I think what everyone here confuses is the difference between not knowing how to spell and purposely doing it for speed convenience. And if proper spelling is THAT important 24/7 all the time without exception... well to me that's silly.

I know people that have made there money all ready and now just manage big business through their cell phone all day long. They don't want to read long emails and prefer short quick to the point texts even if they include short hand.

When posting on message boards, grammar and spelling kinda goes out the window for me (but I don't write ebonics). At my day job, I need to write well and produce clean documents and email correspondence. When I'm posting on GFY and other boards, I want to "get away" from the grind of work, so I'm not gonna get in "work mode" and flip out over whether my writing complies with the Chicago Manual of Style.

If it makes you feel like a genius or feel better about your life correcting other people's grammer or putting them down cause of it. Go for it. At least your not sitting in some tower with a rifle or shooting elected officials

I'm with Meloman on this one, this is a message board, this is about as informal as it gets... relax... I have issues with people who ALWAYS use the wrong spelling too but I can live with it. Those of you who can't and need to shoot down others? This is borderline psychosis, and you probably need to see someone about it. ;)

PS even the best Writers have and use editors...
