If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it's free.

Fuck free. Just let the cost get so high that granny goes out and robs the corner
store for $150 so she can buy 3 pills of her heart medicine.

Maybe that will cost a few store clerks their lives.

If you can save for retirement yourself, there is no reason why you can't self-insure your own healthcare....

If lets say you save $200/month and invest it at 8% in your own healthcare account you would save about 11 Million (!!!) in your lifetime (75 years)... obviously this is a bit oversimplified, but I think most people spend way less than 11M in their lifetimes on healthcare...

11Mil? That should cover at least a couple of Tylenols and an enema.

Corrupt pol: I was against it before I was for it.

Blue Shield: We're raising your premiums now, but will be lowering them later.

Where are you getting those numbers? I put away much more than $200 a month in my Roth IRA and more in my 401 (k) and I will never see anything even remotely close to $11M at premium (dreaming) rates combined. $200 a month at 8% does not pay for cancer, a major accident, or one of the many other terrible things that COULD happen.

My healthcare is cheap compared to many I know and I pay well over $1,500 a month, that doesn't even include insurance. I really don't think many realize how expensive "being sick" can cost.

Yes because millions of people NOT having health care now is better. I mean I love how a person without healthcare is forced to go to the ER and of course them doesn't pay his bill, then the hospital passes that cost onto my insurance company which then passes that cost onto me. Yes the way we have been doing is soooooo much better.

And in what way is that changing? That's still going to happen.

"Requiring" insurance. Right. Are they going to throw you in jail if you don't pay for insurance? No, they're not. There is no repercussion. There can't be. So who pays for it? You, your insurance, taxes, and states (again, taxes.)

I do. I had a very short hospital stay not too long ago that came to just a hair under $40k. (not paying for it of course)
