Based on the amount of traffic they receive I am guessing the following:

approx $5k/mth US for every 100,000 visitors/day

I'm not asking for any magic secrets on how to get traffic etc, I just want to know what that kind of traffic should generate?

there are some factors that make a tgp to bring much more $ than another. These are: the # of bookmarkers, the SE traffic it receives and the promo skills of the webmaster. At the moment I don't think many tgps make $5k/100k daily surfers. Also how many 100k tgps do you know? Not that many. Most tgp webmasters deal with much lower traffic and try to increase their income from galleries.

Again I am trying to get an average - so I am talking about a clean site that has a healthy bookmark base decent SE traffic and average design skills, and using hosted galleries in the best gallery spots etc.

If you do everything right and honest and have good trades with no excessive blind linking and cj'ing and you update every day and build a base of bookmarkers... then is 5k/mth from 100k/day a fair number?

Obviously you make the most when you sell ad/gallery spots on your site ;) but aside from doing that - using ads on the site, and using mainly hosted galleries in the good spots - I don't see any other ways to suck more out of a tgp other than using toplists and banner exchanges which can't be good for gwoing bookmarkers, unless of course bookmarkers suck and who needs em?

I don't know maybe an expert can step in here and clear things up...

I suppose, sure. What I'm saying is, to run a TGP like that, updating every day, building up to 100K and keeping it that way, dealing with gallery checking, etc. etc. wouldn't that basically exclude you from having much time to make any other sites profitable? At that point would all that be worth only 5K per month?

I have a couple of TGPs just for the hell of it and they probably get, oh, I don't know... 12 visitors a day?

I just can't see putting too much time into developing them to 100K sites if it meant so much work. I try to develop, build up, and then let loose and forget the sites I do, and they continue to make money for me while I go off and develop another one.

To run a successful TGP means you have to be on it every single day. One slipup and all your traffic is gone. I guess I just can't see dealing with such a headache at the exclusion of everything else for such a low amount of profit.

One more question tho - if you take HQ surfers from SE's etc and send them to a tgp that has all hosted galleries and you build bookmarkers out of those surfers - are they just as good as having a surfer come from another tgp thru a trade who bookmarks your site - or are they higher quality because they bookmarking a 'shitty' site that only lists 10 new hosted galleries/day and has only 4 days of galleries listed?

Lets move this conversation to bookmarker behaviour now that we have the avg $$

Hard to say, probably not. If your bookmarkers are all surfers who have seen 10+ other tgps and know how much free porn is out there and how easy it is to get, not to mention probably have others bookmarked as well, you're not going to make as much as you would if your bookmarkers found you from SE's and shit.

You mention using all hosted galleries, if you're interested in building a good base of bookmarkers, stay away from them as much as possible. Especially if you're trading traffic.

I would actually have to say yes...I have a lot of bookmarkers and do a lot of trades, I do run a fair amount of hosted galleries but not 95%, but the results are great. But a tgp involves a lot of work, but if you do a slam-up update then results will show.

thanks for the info Rich - personally ALL of my traffic does come from SE's and LL's and I do not trade with REAL tgps.

My tgp only has 10 new galleries/day and lists 4 days of galleries.

My hope is to keep these bookmarkers high quality and not send them to real tgps.

My hope is that IF these surfers bookmark a site that only has 10 new hosted galleries listed per day on it that they are dumbasses who have never seen a good tgp otherwise they would jump ship and keep visiting a real tgp with tons of selection and GOOD galleries.

This is why I started this thread to determine if it is worth it to trade my site up with real tgps that reward productivity, and open gallery submissions up to the public to list bette galleries and get more bookmarkers etc. But if what I am doing sounds like it makes senses then I am not going to trade with them and may only open up submissions to webmasters who build free sites for the LL's and put my recip on their main page - I'll list one of their galleries from their free site and then put them into an archive permanently at the bottom of my site.

This would mean listing more than 10 galleries/day tho since I want to keep my 10 hosted galleries as my money makers - I'm not sure if listing more than 10 galleries/day will kill the quality of my bookmarkers because they now have mor to look at?

I'm trying to determine a long term strategy with this

That's a good way to do it jojojo, you'll make more money with a smaller tgp if you can get quality traffic and turn them into bookmarkers like that, then some half cj tgp could with 5x the traffic.

This is why I started this thread to determine if it is worth it to trade my site up with real tgps that reward productivity, and open gallery submissions up to the public to list bette galleries and get more bookmarkers etc. But if what I am doing sounds like it makes senses then I am not going to trade with them and may only open up submissions to webmasters who build free sites for the LL's and put my recip on their main page - I'll list one of their galleries from their free site and then put them into an archive permanently at the bottom of my site. This would mean listing more than 10 galleries/day tho since I want to keep my 10 hosted galleries as my money makers - I'm not sure if listing more than 10 galleries/day will kill the quality of my bookmarkers because they now have mor to look at?
