I'll freely admit that despite working hard all year on various "adaptation" strategies, I'm not happy with my results so far.

A few years ago I was making 90% of my income selling porn subscriptions on the revshare plan using mostly still picture promo content, marketed to surfers via a wide variety of free websites, mostly blogs.

Obviously, that's not working as well as it used to. I'm still making a living at it, but instead of living high it's more of a subsistence deal than I like, and I'm working a fuck-ton harder at it ... while trying to spend as much productive energy as possible working on NEW models, for all the obvious reasons.

Many of you bastards don't even seem to have twigged to the fact that the very concepts of the desktop computer and the web browser are rapidly becoming obsolete. I myself spent far too long going "I need new products to promote on my websites" and then "I need to rejigger my websites because my traffic is falling" before I began to figure out that the problem was more fundamental and I needed to adapt on a more fundamental level.

Unfortunately, for me that requires tech skills that are a heavy stretch -- HTML5, app development, and a much stronger understanding of the mobile ecosystem.

I am working on it. But progress is slow, painful, and so far, unsatisfactory.

Fortunately, as the old joke goes, I don't have to outrun the bear... I just have outrun the other guy. And looking around, I think I still have a fair shot at that.

I know there are some that are floating on a wing and a prayer through 2010 that maybe should have reigned in spending and re-evaluated things. I think for some the hole 2010 will leave behind will be too deep, so maybe a few more will fall but overall I'm optimisitic for 2011. Not saying someone can sit on their hands and make money any easier next year, but surfers are spending, and their spending is increasing- so at least there is money to be made.

That said, "Trust Nobody" should be everyone's mantra. Honestly, it always should have been that way but sometimes when you do biz with someone for a while you feel like you know them. Honestly, you don't really ever know anybody when money is involved. Also the closer you are with someone in biz, I've found the reality is the more likely they are to make you their last priority, and the more likely you'll be the one left holding the bag if the shit hits the fan.

I really tried, but no fuckin success. I tried tube site, I tried mainstream, I tried 3d... nothing. I have to find completely new model how to make money online, it's like starting all over again and it sucks, because I don't even know where are forums like this, but with something new.

Why on earth would you give him money. Go with fpc traffic or ero-advertising, if you want to have a roi that is.

Anyways coker, tell us how YOU adapted?
You dont mean that sad excuse of a tubesite you tried to setup or? Or do you mean posting to try and make people believe you still have some cash?

If someone isnt an example, its you. I bet you wont make it through 2011.

The is a big difference between cynically "adapting" to the lowest common denominator and being competitive.

Many adapted.

Some went bust.
Some went to mainstream.
Some went and got a real job.
Some are collecting Government checks.
Some closed the affiliates program.
Some kept them open and changed the rules on paying.
Some decided we hadn't given surfers enough free porn and decided it was time to give them more.
Some decided they were spending far too much on the product and far too little on traffic, so spent more on traffic.
Some thought Tubes were the only people who would spend money and grabbed what they could.

As far as the business changing it's model?
NOTHING HAPPENED. Still trying to sell sites full of mediocre videos while others give them away. And scratching their heads why their income is shrinking.

And something that will never change is guys working from the spare bedroom trying to look like successful pimps on GFY telling us it's their best year yet.

Me I changed. I'm now eating solid foods, able to drive, able to go out for walks and take pictures. Still sleeping 14 hours a day though.

Eva is bored as hell being a housewife.
