Buy smaller amounts at the store.
It's more expensive, but you are forced to eat smaller.

After a while you can buy larger amounts and won't overeat because you've built the good habits and your stomach will have shrunk ~ making it painful to overeat.

I got in the habit of going to the store every other day. The bonus to that is you always have fresh vegis, and you can plan your meals to be more savory.

Atkins works if you commit to a lifestyle change. It's not for those who want to lose a few and then go back to binging and gorging. I've lost 45 lbs. since the end of July on Atkins, and I was able to discontinue my diabetes meds at the end if the first week. Bye-bye Supersize fries.

cherrylula 01-15-2003 06:27 PM

yep carbs are the worst.

The atkins thing is good, I usually eat lots of red meat and meat in general, but a huge bowl of green salad and veggies every day.

Especially if you drink more than a case of beer a week hehe... eating this way will keep you quite healthy. Working out helps too. Keep your metabolism as fast as you can.

I've found that slim fast kind of sucks, its like riding your bike to work because you want to save gas in your car. Not worth the pain and suffering. You are better off eating a juicy t-bone steak and a small salad.

And there is always colonics. :1orglaugh

Did you know that when the coroner did the autopsy on John Wayne there was 40 pounds of feces in his colon and intestine?

That's one big dump.

So forget Slim Fast, just chow down on a box of Ex-Lax and lock yourself in the bathroom for a few days. :thumbsup

I agree that Atkins is the best if you need to loose over 10lbs. But that shouldn't give you a license to eat all fat. I ate mostly chicken, fish, shrimp, lean meats, eggs and salads over 6 weeks and lost 30lbs. The best part is you never get "shakey" hungry because the protein diet controls your insulin levels. Later, you can just watch the carbs and it's easier to maintain a healthy weight.

One thing about Atkins is you should get a good fiber suppliment (eg. sugar-free metamucil) and drink lots of water. Without little carbs in your diet, you may have trouble getting the "train out of the station." That's no fun.

Also, I absolutely hate jogging but it's the most efficient way to burn calories, and keep your cardio system healthy.

My whole family is on Herbal Life and it's amazing !!
The shakes takes sooooooo good :) It's a bit pricy but well worth it. If anybody here has tried it they'll know what I'm talking about.

We split 2 1/2 tablespoons of the meal replacement in a drink or yogurt plus their normal meals. This gives them all the vitamins they need for the day. My 3yr. old is on brazilian tea which helps with A.D.H.D (Herbal Life also) and it's working quite well.

My mother and father sell Herbal Life so we got a nice little package at christmas :)
We've been on it since dec.26th and you'd be amazed at how much better you feel with it.

It's alot healthier for you then Slim Fast or anything else out there.

Why drink a yukky tasting Shake packed full of junk when you could be eating lots of really good food and lose weight? One really good thing to do is get into the habit of keeping a 2 litre bottle of water by your desk and keep taking drinks, often the feeling of hunger is your body response to de-hydration (coffee and cola can make the situation worse and you'll feel more hunger pangs). Make a batch of veg soup and snack on it during the day when you're peckish, don't deprive you're body of carbs, complex carbohydrate increase your metabolic rate and help your body to burn more fat by giving off a steady stream of fuel. Make sure you have an intake of 1,250 - 1,500 calories a day to ensure that you lose fat rather than muscle and eat really nice tasting food so that you ENJOY the whole experience :)

Those who hate spending hours doing cardio

http://www.musclemedia.com/training/hiit.asp

Ever go to the gym and see people that are there all the time but they look the same. Its because they stick to old rules that dont work. Most nutritionals dont have a clue for weight loss and next time you want to hire a personal trainer ask to see their before pic, if they look the same. Then its genetics not knowledge dont use them.

Herbal Life's shakes are far from "yukky" LOL.
Straight up or mix in some fruit and ice.

In just one shake you've got all the vitamins you'll need for the day.
Herbal Life is not just for ppl tryign to lose weight. There are three diffrent programs all from the one shake.

-maintenance (1 shake a day (better in the morning) with your normal meals)

-weight lose (replace breakfast and lunch with a shake and have a sensible dinner)

-weight gain (three shakes with all of your meals)

You can just use the meal replacement shakes but it works better when you're on the whole program.

Slimfast actually coats the fat molecules in as such it causes food you eat to simply pass through you which is why it will cause u to lose weight...however, the problem is that in doing so it stops your body from absorbing any vitamins, minerals or aminos in the food you eat....after a few months when your hair starts falling out, your skin looks like a 90 year old and your losing your sight...you will will at least be slim:thumbsup

Ooops, when I said yukky shake I meant Slim Fast, I've never tried Herbal Life products :)

I am curious as to why you need to get your vitamins from Herbal Life as opposed to any other form and is it safe for your young children, most that are designed for adults can be very dangerous for anyone under the age of 12.

Thats a bit extreme, supplement those things with vitamin pills....

This thread makes me feel guilty.

After eating 3 meals yesterday for some reason I was still hungry at 10pm. I went out and got a large Red Baron supreme pizza, a 6 pack, and a supersize kitkat at the grocery store. Mowed through the lot of it in a couple of hours.

3000 calorie late night snack. mmmmmmmmmmm.

We don't give them the vitamins,we give them the meal replacement with breakfast. Sometimes they choose not to eat what we give them or their sick etc... Herbal Life provides them with the proper vitamins they need to grow healthy. We use it as a supplement because sometimes they don't eat properly. If you have children you know what I'm talking about.

Herbal Life is ALL NATURAL.

"I am curious as to why you need to get your vitamins from Herbal Life as opposed to any other form".

Well in todays society it's VERY hard to get the proper nutrition that we need to be healthy. As I said above children can be very picky about what they eat. Or when their sick they don't eat. So they're losing the vitamins that they should be getting. The shakes provide them with all that they need. My 3 yr. old son is using brazilian tea (all natural) to help control hyper activity (A.D.H.D). I feel that it's a better choice to have him on an all natural tea then ritalin. Ritalin (from what I've seen and been told) makes you act like a zombie. It's an easy and not so safe way for parents to handle their child.

This "all natural" shit always cracks me up.

Deathcap mushrooms are all natural, so is hemlock. Humans are part of nature too, so whatever we produce is "all natural" by definition, right? Oy..

Ever think that maybe these supplement companies have a vested financial interest in convincing you that kids can't get the nutrition they need without gobbling down whatever horseshit supplement they are selling?

It should be blatantly obvious to anyone who can use a calculator and is willing to look at a few charts and labels that nutrition in todays society is easy to come by when you make an even halfheated attempt to vary your diet and eat decently.

Did you even read my post?
KIDS DON'T ALWAYS EAT WHAT YOU GIVE THEM ETC...
The problem isn't so much with my two younger kids, it's my oldest one. He only eats pb and stuff like that. Trying to get him to eat anything else is a screaming match. It's not always as easy as you seem to think it is when kids are involved.

Aaah, thanks for the explanation! As for getting kids to eat well, my son is almost 5, at 8 weeks old he had to have a large portion of his intestine and bowel removed which has resulted in him having a very small appetite (he eats as much as the average 2 year old), the doctors were worried that he might not grow properly but he's the tallest in his year at school and I make sure he gets his full quota of vitamins from his diet. He also has ADHD :(
