I've never played World of Warcraft...

Do I need to pay for a membership if I buy this game to be able to play World of Warcraft: Cataclysm?

Yes - there is no stand-alone single player mode

(all prices subject to fluctuation / area of purchase)

the new expansion is $39.99, but you have to buy three previous editions: Vanilla for $19.99, TBC for $29.99, and WotLK for $39.99. Or if you buy these four editions in a bundle, it will be $99.99.

Then 15$ per month - a little cheaper if you pre-pay 3 or 6 months

hope you have a lot of free time - I gave it up

I have not played since I hit lvl 60 in early 2005.. I'm sure its like a different game now with all those expansions.. very tempting

There is a 15 day free trial, you can download the full game and play the trial from the www.worldofwarcraft.com site. Also, I believe they have cut the price on all the previous expansions and the original game. Thought I saw something like 30 bucks for the whole bundle.

Check out Dungeons&Dragons Online. Similar in play and style. I found it much nicer than WoW and a more mature crowd to run with. Plus you can come at it when you want it being FREE to PLAY.

I think they have a sale where all the previous expansions are only $5, but even then... Don't start again, you'll get re-sucked in and fail at life. I played WoW since it first came out, then quit like a year ago. Best decision I've ever made, haha.

It is hard to believe the massive number of people playing again as there are just a crazy number of people online now where as a few weeks ago the place looked like a ghost town, but yes it is very time consuming and something I don?t suggest unless you have a lot of free time.

yes the previous expansions i heard are 30 bucks now, and near the same for the new expansion. So its not as much as before and yes it can be addicting. I have not logged in for more than 6 months.

Yes, you play that until you max level and then can get the next pack and level again until your up to the newest one.

I used to be addicted to it before Cataclysm came out, like seriously 6 - 8 hours a day outside my full time job!!

I stopped for about 8 months and have picked it back up but I am not so addicted, played Cataclysm for about 3 hours since getting it on launch date almost a week ago.

yeah they did. I think still around. 30$ for the first 3.. original, burning crusade, and lich king. Cata is best to shop around for. Some have them on special for 39.99 other sell them for 40..45. SO best to shop around for it

Played it the day after it came out. And I kept seeing [Realm First} for all professions and races of people getting to 85 less then 24hrs after the release. Plus was lag hell so left it for a couple days
