Visa did something a group of people apparently doesn't like that was absolutely and completely legal. They stopped offering their services, a service they are not required by any law to offer to anyone. Now a coordinated illegal attack is made against Visa and pornographers are cheering it on.

How is that so much different than a pornsite, offering a completely legal service being attacked by a group of people that don't think it should be able to exercise the right to offer said service coordinating the attack?

Paypal already said they were told by the US Gov to drop them. If they will admit it, I'm sure that's the case with everyone else.

Depends on how you WANT to look at it. In your analogy the persons hacking my adult site to stop people exercising their 'legal right/choice to watch porn would be the pretty much the same as people with power ordering/controlling visa, paypal et al to stop providing services to wiki with the intention of preventing people exercising their legal right/choice to read what the fuck is really going on, they are trying to prevent WL from publishing things people want to read about, things that the people should have the right to read about - if they so wish.

How would you feel if you had info about a company in this industry who were shaving others, and up to all manner of fucked up shit, thinking they are above reproach and that nobody would ever find out, and even if they did find out they were confident that nobody would dare confront them with it, they were safe in the knowledge they could shut people up if they so wished since they controlled all means of communication, and free speach on the boards was just an illusion over issues that were not relevent to them.

However, you did find out, and you tried to post about it here on GFY trying to help others find out about what is going on behind the scenes.

After you post you find that your account is banned and the post deleted. You find out that the company has influenced/persuaded gfy to withdraw their services with regard to you. The same for all other forums that you have tried to post on. These forums are now working with (controlled by)the bad guys in my opinion, i'm sure that would be your opinion too in this scenario.

Then a couple of guys on here whom had read your post try to help you out by causing the forum some pain by which ever method they could, in the hope they could help you out and make a difference, pay you back for sticking your neck out and trying to help them, maybe even make the forums think twice about assisting bad guys fucking you and all other webmasters over in future. Would you call those couple of guys 'the bad guys'? deriding their methods as childish and lacking in talent? are they in the wrong because they have operated outside of the rules of the forum ? or would you be cheering those couple of guys on?

Sorry if i've not expressed that as clearly as i should, it's 5;14am here and i've just had a very long session on my ps3.

DDOSing visa.com / mastercard.com websites will likely have little effect, because most all credit card / debit transactions are performed through 3rd party gateways, proprietary networks, etc.

To have any real adverse effect on the likes of VISA / MasterCard would take a concerted attack on the various merchant bank gateways and internal networks... would likely require hacking routers and physical access to infrastructure - that's a far higher bar than ddosing.

Bottom line is that the ddos attacks likely make many feel as if they're "fighting the man", but the reality is such ddos attacks alone will likely to have little to no real impact.
