It's hard to argue on the price point. The only way to do so would be to decide for yourself if you are getting real value for the price. You could compare the components (CPU, Operating speed, ram, hard disk space, etc) but to be fair you'd have to work also include support, stability, usefulness, etc.

I'm not sure but I think that if I compared an OEM PC to an iMac on price points alone, the PC would be cheaper, but the value on the iMac is better. So far its been easy to use, tech support is fast, and it "just works". Would I get the same enjoyment, productivity and support from a PC? I don't think I would.

Anyway, its pointless debating it. Try this: Buy yourself the cheapest mac, such as a Macbook. Try it out for a month and if you don't like it, sell it. Or buy yourself an iMac and return it within Apple's return policy date if you don't like it. It's really a nice, fast machine that to me anyway, is worth the price.

You also have to look at the quality of the parts. I've said this numerous times but Apple uses top quality hardware. They don't use the shitty generic stuff.

People only see, "oh, well I have a 512MB video card" or "oh, well I have a dual 3.2 cpu". But they don't realize there are dozens and sometimes even hundreds of cards with the same "main specs" on the box, but there is a lot more to a video card than the memory it has, just as with a cpu there is alot more specs to it than just it's GHz.

People always say that Apples are so expensive, But they aren't. They're just comparing the $2,000 Apple model to the $400 Dell model. Dell has a $2,000 model as well - but no one seems to remember that.

But that's because they CAN, because NO other manufacturer gets even close to the quality of experience you'll get with a Mac.

After spending half an hour almost every day just trying to get my PC to work properly - simple things like download my emails - I made the switch.

Honestly, I wish I'd have done it sooner.

Macs are LIGHT years ahead of ANY PC running windows - for work at least (gaming you'd probably still be better off on PC)

On the hard drive thing. It's comparing that the HD costs 12 cents per GB on newegg, but 31 cents per GB on Apple.

But when you buy the 12 cents per GB hard drive on newegg. It will arrive and all you'll have is a paper weight.

When you buy the 31 cents per GB on Apple. Someone has installed it inside a working Mac Pro. So it arrives to you as a working computer system, which has a warranty, and customer support.

Kind of a bad comparison eh?
