I totally agree, but since most of us in the industry started IM'ing with it, it's probably will be some time before a transition is made to something else.

I think that something else is Skype, it rules for chat. I use it for our customers and our company. Group chat mode is very effective to keep everyone in touch.

btw if you are using the icq client, get rid of it and use Trillian, it's makes ICQ tollerable

I've been using icq since somewhere around late 96/early 97, and offline messages are still 10x better than any of the others. icq owns for not having to send an email for quick text.

it would not be that bad if they could just add the ability to add other users to a IM chat session, that would be a nice feature

actually .. their ability to add any features is so weak I have to think it's being ignored by whatever development team they have
