We have a forum (sorta like Stile Project) where members post images and videos of dead people, naked girls and links to all kinds of 'college humor' crap. One of my members uploaded a bunch of pics and one of them had a "Suicidal Girls" logo on it...

Well, I'm down at Mardi Gras, (w00t!) taking pictures and just tonight, I go to plug in at the lobby. Was gonna upload some pics, but... Banned...

Yea, I guess the owner or whoever of the pics contacted my host. He wrote me some 5 paragragh bullshit email yesterday, telling me about how he 'takes his hosting company seriously' and to remove it in 3 hours or else. I was about a day late.

But I'm really offended. He talked down to me like, becuse I run a college humor site, that I'm not as professional as he. Because even though my content is all bullshit, I take my bullshit seriously.

Well Emily, trust me on this one. It *IS* good enough. THis hosting service serves files for hundreds of porn sites and has for many years. If you are wanting to run a kiddie porn site maybe this is not the service for you because they WILL hand all of your info over to the Feds.

This is an embarrassing situation, but I have to recant my earlier recommendation for DWHS (http://dwhs.com). This week my site went offline for the third time in 2 months. I was told by the President and Customer Service Manager of DWHS, Charles Yarbrough that my site had been lost due to an equipment malfunction and that all of the files were lost. This is exactly what I was told the first two time this happened. I issued a service request to try and recover the files and I customer service rep named Cal phoned me to tell me that my files had been lost because my site was ?hacked?. He could not provide any information as to the nature of the hack but said that they were sorry and that I would receive a free month of service. About 30 minutes later he called and told me that they needed my credit card again because their accounting system had been corrupted and they have no record of any payments from me since December of 2004. I informed him that the billing info was at my office and that I would get it to him in the morning.

I sent another email the Charles Yarbrough asking about why there was no available backup and requesting an explanation as to how and why this had occurred three times in 2 months. His reply was, ?Sorry, your web hosting account had a processing error. Please use our secure form here: http://dwhs.net/update to send the billing details.? I send him another message requesting that they search for the backup which is part of the hosting package and his reply to that was to not reply. I then set him a message outlining my displeasure with his service and informing him that I would be moving my site to another server and he immediately pointed my domain to one of his server pages and sent this message:

I would suggest that if you have a site listed with these people that you consider moving it to another server and if you are looking for a hosting service look far past DWHS. I don?t want to suggest that they were holding my site hostage in an attempt to get additional hosting fees from me, but I do know that in January there was a mysterious event where the .htaccess file for my members section was CHMODed so that it was inactive. Then my ?wide open site? was posted to a password trading site which resulted in a huge overage in bandwidth and a huge increase in hosting fees. They were very quick and all to happy to offer a 50% discount in the bandwidth overage and they would reactivate my site as soon as I made a credit card payment.

I have a call in right now to another adult webmaster that I have heard has a similar story. I am waiting for his reply.

I am sure that the DWHS guys are great people but I am doubly sure that I will never give them one cent of my business.
