I'm new to this site and so far I've seen a few posts about SEO and none of were any where near accurate, and if anything they were recommendations that would actually hurt your site.

Go to google, type in "google seo" and the first link should be google information for webmasters. It explicitly says do not submit to lots of search engines or repeatedly submit. It also says not to submit to FFA sites. It also says don't use software to do seo.

Okay, SEO for adult sites is a completely different process then working with your average e-commerce website. Top rankings in any major search engine, especially Google, is based largely on quality inbound links from relevant websites. The problem with adult sites is any site that's not adult related won't link to you, unless you bribe their webmaster or use extortion, which is pretty extreme and not something I'd recommend.

With non-adult sites out of the picture you have to figure out a way to get well established adult sites to link to you. The problem is any webmaster who has a clue knows that too many outbound links from their site will take away from their own rankings. You can always use banner ads as part of an affiliate program but affiliate links don't work, you need text links with your keywords as the anchor text. There are ways to incorporate these text links into a banner ad by putting the anchor text under the image but this must be done with caution because if you do it the wrong way you'll get penalized for cloaking the link.

I guess the point I'm trying to get at is that links are the most important part of an SEO campaign. It doesn't matter what you do on your site, without links it doesn't mean shit.

As for our site, we don't really have time to work on it, instead, we focus on our clients sites. And we do okay with this site and one of our others. For our main site you could try, "website placement" or "guaranteed search marketing optimization" or "keyword efficiency tool" or "html code snooper." I know these aren't the top tier keywords but they're not bad either. Honestly, just because a company does it for themselves doesn't mean they'll do it for you. The guy in the #1 spot for "search engine optimization" sells a service listed on their home page that it explicitly says on Google
will get you banned.

What you should look for in an SEO company is a guarantee that actually means something, and a performance based billing structure. There are a lot of companies out there that will "try" to get you some results for a couple of grand down and $500 a month. We're the only company that offers a 100% money back guarantee on the set up fee and a monthly fee that's based solely on top ten placement in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. And if you do I'll beat their price hands down.

I do "pay for performance" adult SEO - but I won't work with most sites. It has to be a good fit and make sense for both of us. Otherwise - why the hell am I going to rank someone else for good keywords when I can just rank for them myself and keep all the money?

I'm not sure where it says that hiring an SEO is a violation of the TOS. I went to Google, punched in "Google SEO," and the first link was Google's information for webmasters page about SEO. Although it identifies a lot of common practices of unethical SEOs that you should look for.
