I've been trying to contact he guys over at STP via email and ICQ to establish what support a 2nd hand user would receive, etc...
So far I have had no response from them so I am going to pass on this for now.

They will not reply to you unless you post at the forum or is already a license holder.

Once you are a license owner even second hand you get full support and lifetime updates. I kno because some of my licenses I bought from other users as well.

OK, it's not very cool though that they have three ICQ contacts but none of them ever see to be online. It's not very re-assuring for future support. I've hit k0nr4d up a couple of times on ICQ and he's always available to discuss Mechbunny. I'd be much more enthusiastic if I knew for definite that I could get hold of someone for STP support when I needed it, not by posting in a forum!
