Hey Guys,

I?m not sure whether this guy is a scammer or just extremely incompetent, either way I wanted to post of my experiences with him.

Surprisingly, marlboroack AKA Brandon Ackerman is a poster at GFY with >6600 posts to his name

I was looking to get some banners, landing pages and email templates done and found marlboroack/Brandon thru? this forum and hit him up on Skype.

We agree a price of $350 for 5 banners, 2 x ?responsive? landing pages and an email template

Rather than pay the whole project up front he agreed to do small project of just the banners for $50 so I could see the service he provided.

Here is a day-by-day list of my interactions over the last 6 weeks or so.....

13th Aug - Sent $50 to marlboroack [he persuaded me to send funds as personal payment on PayPal to avoid fees]
18th-19th Aug ? Spec and related images sent to marlboroack
22nd Aug ? 2 banners created and sent to me
23rd Aug ? Sent $300 and full spec for remaining banners, Landing Pages and Email template to marlboroack
26th Aug ? ask for update, was told that the designer was working on my order but then asked me to send spec again
28th Aug ? ask for update and told wouldn?t be ready till 5th Sept due to the landing pages being responsive ? expressed I wasn?t happy with delay and he said it would probably be earlier but 5th Sept at latest
28th Aug ? I asked question on Skypere the designs ? no response
3rd Sept ? 3 remaining banners received
5th Sept ? Delivery due date for landing pages - nothing received
8th Sept ? Ask for update - no response
9th Sept - Ask for update - no response
10th Sept ? Finally a response saying I will have one design by end day and other ones by coming weekend
11th Sept ? Ask for update - no response
12th Sept ? Sent him email explaining that I needed content for my project launch on Friday 19th September ? no response
13th Sept ? Third deadline missed with no contact
16th Sept ? Fed-up with no response - so I call him ? when he hears who I am he puts phone down
16th Sept ? Phone call spurs him into action and later that day he sends me a zip file containing some design files - HOWEVER there was only one landing page ? which not only was not responsive it has three important sections missing
16th Sept ? Sent him email explaining what was missing and that I no longer felt I could work with him and asked for a refund of $225 (which seemed fair) ? no response
18th Sept ? Sent him an email asking for update ? no response
19th Sept ? Messaged him on Skype ? asking if he got my emails ? he claimed he hadn?t seen them as he had been without internet connection for 3 days
19th Sept ? He added me to joint conversation with his designer with the instruction to get things sorted - but by this time I had had enough, lost all faith in him and really didn?t want anything else to do with him
20th Sept ? Long Skype message sent to him explaining that as he had screwed up over and over again I wanted to cancel project and get a part refund (per my email of 16th ? no response
23rd Sept ? Skype message sent - no response
25th Sept - Skype message sent - no response

All in all a very frustrating experience from someone who boasted ?I also own more porn than anyone in USA? and ?I'm running 2 studios with 20+ designers each? which if true is somewhat surprising that he would go three days without reading his emails.

I certainly blame myself for paying the full amount up front, not having a proper contract with built-in penalties for late delivery and paying via a method that was recoverable.

I would also add that up to maybe the last email and Skype messages I was nothing but polite and business-like in all my communications with him.

In return all I seem to get back was a lack of respect, a terrible service and virtually no response to my emails, Skype messages and phone calls. It seems that providing a good service wasn't at all important and the fact I missed my important deadlines made no difference to him as he had my money and knew that there was no way I could get it back.

So all in all a sorry tale and it looks like I have spent $350 and all I got in return was 5 banners and 1 completely useless landing page design not to mention 5-6 weeks of stress and the fact he made me missed my launch date.

I was amused to see a post on this forum [1144074] from him back in June in which he was complaining about being scammed out of $300 ? quite ironic seeing as a few months later he would quite willing to do the same thing to me. Whilst I cannot "file a police report to take this mother fucker down" the least I can do is to post on the forum where he touts for business and let people know the way he treats his "customers"

You should probably post this in another more trafficked category. I doubt this category gets many views. I'm sorry this happened to you. I got bitten by him back in 2010 when I first came to GFY. He didn't have as much of a negative history then. Also, back then, from the correspondence I had with him, I determined he subbed out his work and didn't do the designs himself. Not sure if this is still the case. If you still need a designer, I can refer you to two designers who have done plenty of work for me. One is in California, the other in the Philippines. I don't have Skype but my e/m/a/i/l is:

A couple of small things.....

You did NOT ask me "several times" to send an email on what's left - in fact you didn't ask me once - I actually sent you an email on 16th Sept explaining what was wrong 30 minutes after you sent me the designs.

Yes, you did put me in touch with the designer but only on 19th Sept by which time the project deadline had been missed and I had lost all faith that I could trust you (and your team) to deliver my project.

I'm not sure why the fact you were away in Asia for two months is relevant unless it means you have to stop responding to emails, Skype messages and generally being professional with your clients.

I noticed you made no attempt to apologise for ignoring my emails, making me miss my project deadlines, only providing 33% of project (most of which was wrong) and generally being unprofessional. Just a thought but maybe your reputation on here would have been enhanced if you at least tried that [you don't even have to mean it].

I did have to laugh when you could me a "moron" on Skype a couple of days ago - I presume you meant I was a moron for trusting you and doing business with you in the first place.

Finally, I'm not sure what you want me to email you about - all I want now is a refund - you have my PayPal address.

I was trying to have a deal with Brandon.

I asked to have some HD scenes to show to a italian broadcast,

we talked, we planned, I was waiting for an hard drive with thousands of scenes to show to TV buyer...

I payed 200 usd, for hard drive 500gb and shipping, USA italy
(to be honest I know 500gb drive cost 50 euro, and shipping with EMS 36.5 euro, so I definally payed him too much)

he also didn't write correctly the custom invoice, and I payed also import duties and VAT
(it looks like he has no idea how to ship content worldwide)

result: I received the hard drive, total 200 euro , (should be 90 euro)
and inside I found 20 scenes only, plus thousands of thumbnails, most of them of useless SD scenes.

I told him that probably was a mistake, 200 euro to ship 20 scenes,
FTP was the right solution.
and he laughed at me saying: "you think I was going to send you a lot of scenes without payment?"

I prefer not to describe scenes quality.....probably just 8 scenes was decent.

after that, I received different skype, he was acting like a boss with me, saying
"where are the money?"

I repeat it to him, you have to send me at least thumbnails, TV buyer want to check if they have that content before buy, and also see quality.

so, he still act as a Boss, "I'm going to prepare thumbs, but if you are not going to bring a sale, you are fucking done"

Yes I remember her. The mentally disabled model trying to sell her photos online. She told me they were "glamour stills with matching videos" I asked Izabela to upload the content with 2257's and model releases to my server to see if we can make a possible deal happen ( since she was from a different country ). Once I reviewed the content it was clear she had some sort of disability and the content was not glamour.. but some weird self-shot stuff that just looked disturbing! I do also recall her sending me threats because I already had the content with me that if I did not send her money for them she was going to send people to kill my family. Not very professional and not very bright.

On-top of all the mess I made it clear that I needed a resell contract implemented if we were to make any deal.. We didn't make a resell contract. I only had the content uploaded for review. I would never purchase or sell any content that has handicapped individuals.

So since starting this thread my interactions with Brandon have moved on

I wont bore you all with a blow by blow account so the short version....

After numerous long skype conversations he agreed to give me a refund but said I would have to wait as he had a cash flow problem after being ripped off by a designer [don't you just love irony of that]

I gave him 3 weeks or so and Skype'd him again asking for the refund and he just replied "NO REFUNDS" - after nicely reminding him that he did say he would give a refund - he eventually [after ignoring several messages] said he would give me a refund of $159

Reminder : original project was $300 - he delivered a third of it of which 75% was wrong - I had asked for $225

When I asked how he came to this figure he said it was what he earned out of the project - the rest he had lost to designer.

So apparently because he got ripped off its perfectly fine that I [as his client] should lose out as well [good business practice there I'm sure you would agree]

In the end I had had enough of talking with this idiot so just agreed to it.

He did offer me an additional $100 of "design credits" - for all that is worth - do I really need the stress of dealing with him again ????

He said he would send the money once a payment had cleared - a few days later nothing had been rec'd so I chase him up and he said it would be the next day - 2 days later still nothing, so I chased him up again. His professional, business like reply was...

"Stop being a bitch or you will get nothing"

Amazingly a few hours later the refund was finally received - hooray - he finally did something he promised to do.

So hopefully this is the end of the matter assuming he doesn't pull a chargeback on the payment he sent

Phoenix sat down with him on there and he offered $20,000 to buy our pre made video rights. Then as we went to close the deal, he wanted Phoenix to give him a "skype show" and began being rude. When she told him no and that we were there for doing business, he ran away.

Professional? HA! He is the complete opposite of that from the one interaction we had with him. He must get off on this and pounces on unsuspecting newbies. Its a good thing we didnt!

Can anyone vouch for him that he was both Professional and did good work and kept his word?

I've been doing business with marlboroack for about a year. Always delivered. I can confirm that he was away (in a different country) around the time you posted and it was probably the reason why it took a bit longer.
