    SnapNames bidders Read This!!

If you have ever tried bidding on a domain at Snapnames you may recognize the name "halvarez"...This user is well known as someone putting bids into names to drive auction prices up. Turns out this douche is the VP of engineering at SnapNames and was doing inside bids.

    SnapNames released this statement

To avoid any question about whether the company benefited from this conduct, SnapNames will offer a rebate to impacted customers, including 5.22% interest (the highest applicable federal rate during the affected time period), of the difference between the prices they paid in winning auctions, and the prices they would have paid had the employee not bid in the auctions. Impacted customers will be notified by SnapNames or its representative with instructions for the offer of a rebate.

SnapNames also has taken further action to ensure its policies regarding auctions are followed, and the company remains committed to taking whatever action is necessary to protect the integrity of its auction platform.

SnapNames deeply regrets this situation and is committed to addressing its customers? needs quickly and fairly.

that is really low of them, we always trust that things are fair with online auctions, sad to hear that sometimes it isn't so fair

This is really A bad deal SnapNames. It would seem that they would of had better check points in place that would of flagged this buyer sooner as suspicious.

That's what I'm saying. This guy has been doing this over the last 5yrs and they just now caught onto him. It looks like he is going to prosecuted and he was high enough in the company to where he could probably go doing this sort of thing and not be noticed.
