How old is your site. How many links do you have. was it initially redirected. lots of answers needed to even come close, and then honestly only google knows.. and also dont worry about it. Worry about the traffic. I had a site with 30k a da uniques and it was a PR2. I worried about the traffic and the sales

I think that you need do not worry about page rank if you lose traffic it is so sad.. i have lose PR in one of my site too but traffic is ok

What is the key word you are googling on that you expect to see your site at Number 2? I be happy to take a look at your site and see what I can see..mind you that I am no SEO expert though my own sites are climbing up in traffic and positions on google.

You had links of value pointing toward your site, now *PROBABLY* one of two things have happened:

1) links are no longer pointing to site
2) google recently deemed the links less valuable based on who they link to or content and now is adjusting your rank based on their current number.

I would build a lot more quality links.

Bookmarks are important right now, google knows what is bookmarked (google toolbar) and google also know that people bookmark sites that are worth visiting again, thus making it a more important site then sites that are not bookmarked ! ;)
