Micro niches

Ive been exploring micro niches, and doing some keyword research, and I was wondering - how many searches a month make it worth it? 'hung transvestite dwarf irishmen' gets maybe 2 or 3 searchs a month (at least thats what I heard), so obviously thats not going to work. So how many make it worth while? and once you find one thats worth while, and you search for it, how many results are too many? I dont particuarly feel like going after a micro niche that has 500 million search results. But then, maybe that would make it not a micro niche.
Also, what do you use for your keyword research? I use googles external keyword tool, but so offen it only turns up 2 word searches, and Id like to have a 3-5 word base to start with.

I am not really a fan of micro niches. My advice is to hit up an already established niche and make it better than it already is and has been. Do everything that you possibly can in order to take that particular niche to the next level. That's when you'll see the $$$ signs rolling in.
