Brian, you ass...This is for the new peeps.

BUT...I will still offer my opinion.

I see reality sites. like ToniFreeland, getting stronger and more realistic. At the same time, if the people developing reality sites continue to try to copy others like BangBus and so forth then I do not see them doing as well as those who go after the untapped sub-niches of the reality market.

A strong secondary form of content will be needed in the future in order to capture and maintain the surfers attention. Porn is cool but we will need to mix it with other stuff to keep it interesting. This is why the "glamour" porn sites our now being out performed by the amateur ones. (per The Statistician)

The beauty of amateur and reality is that they are not restricted by the same boundries as other types of sites. The road ahead is wide open and clear for those who are creative and not afraid to take a chance.

I actually have a new site I am working on - text content specifically - and would really like some constructive ideas on setting it up properly. With you being in the content business, I am sure you can offer some good advice.

I would prefer to email the link because it is not fully set up and ready to go...but I do understand time restraints...so, if it suits you better, any major considerations that need to be taken into account could just as well be mentioned here.

              thanks,

Thought I would post this in case anybody is interested....

                xtype: hello

                AaronM: Indeed

                xtype: im on trillian now

                AaronM: lol

                AaronM: ok

                AaronM: So...Whats your question?

xtype: been doing the adult thing with minimal success for about 6 months..

xtype: have been concentrating on design mostly...

xtype: and on a couple of jobs i was paid in content instead of cash from faproductions.com

xtype: that was the deal anyways

                AaronM: ok

xtype: so I have this semi-exclusive...i call it that because i haven't seen it anywhere yet content. its good stuff and I am not sure what to do with it that will be most lucrative for me. i thought it would be good to ask you because your probably have more content than you know what to do with.

AaronM: Unless you run your own sites then you pretty much got fucked. Never trade services unless you can use the service being offered for trade. You most likely can not resale the content and in most cases, if you are allowed to transfer it to another person, there are fees involved. Ask the provider if you can build some sites with it and then transfer the license to the other party. That will add value to your designs by giving your clients some of the same content that is used in the design of their sites.

xtype: never thought of using in design...its a good idea. what about avs?

AaronM: Sure....AVS people like to have packages like that and if the price is low enough then you should be able to sell it with no problems. Or do you mean building your ownn avs stuff? That is cool too.

                xtype: yeah building

AaronM: BUT....Unless you are deep in the AVS game then you may get more from selling the designs and content as a package

xtype: i signed up for cyberage today...do you think it is too saturated and I should go with someone smaller and less known. I have heard good things about sitepass.com

AaronM: Depends on what you are doing with it. If you are planning on the money you can make from standard sign ups then yes, it may be over saturated but if you want to use it to upsell to your own site then their member base is a good start to have.

xtype: thx for the info ..sounds like the best thing to do is include it in the designs...

AaronM: I think so. Be sure and check with the provider so you do not get your ass in a sling for doing it though.

dxtype: yeah i will...im doing more designs for him this week...(cash this time) so I will ask him then

AaronM: Good plan. Stick to cash.

xtype: yeah...it was some of my first jobs...so I needed stuff to add to my portfolio. thanks for you time tonight....i really appreciate it

AaronM: No problem. Hope it helps.

xtype: its does... thx again...talk to you later

                AaronM: np, take care

                  AaronM: Hey Kristy...AaronM here.

kristydoll: hi ....thanks for the reply

AaronM: No problem. I am in good deed boyscout mode these days. ;)

kristydoll: lol....glad to hear that.......so, you don't mind giving some advice?

                  AaronM: Not at all.

kristydoll: like I said, I'm still trying to set it up...and I do have a link for it (though on a free server until its ready to go) www.EditedOut.com but I really am not sure on all that needs to be done first

AaronM: OK... I have a few other things on my plate right now but I will check it out and post my reply to GFY later today.

kristydoll: sure, sounds good by me....and thanks

                  AaronM: np.

OK... I have checked out the site and what I can tell you is that you clearly have a good grasp on the text market. The text on your own site is very convincing and should really help your sales.

                  Let me quote your site:

"Images of hot naked bodies and video streams do get the attention of your surfers, but they always remain voyeurs."

This is a valid point, however in the design of your site, you have forgotten the images part. No offense meant, but your site is not visually appealing. The layout is simple to follow and very direct but it bores the hell out of me. I am not saying to overdo it with a bunch of hyped up crap but you should add a little something to make it stand out more. At this point the only thing that really grabs my eye is the animated gif from the freehost. I understand that will be gone when you go live with this but it is something to think about. Movement stimulates the mind...Try to incorporate a little of it in your design.

Here are some other things I would check into:

1: Better logo. This one is too plain. I like the font. In fact, I think it is the perfect font for a logo of a text site. Stick with that but dress it up a little.

2: PayPal, ePassporte, and Money Orders are good options to have but by not accepting credit cards, you are missing out on a large percentage of potential customers. Since your site sells to webmasters and not end users (surfers) and is not membership based...You may not face the additional expense that adult sites incur due to high risk. I use my own merchant account for my content sales site and have NEVER had a single chargeback. I will be happy to point you to a great service for setting it up and they can also combine it with a very nice shopping cart system.

3: Center your table. I use 1024x768 as do an increasing number of surfers and more importantly, webmasters. Center the table so that the page is more natural to read than looking to the left.

4: The roll over links at the top are ok, but again...They do not grab my attention. They are positioned on the left side along with everything else. Perhaps placing them on the right would spread the page out a little more. I would also consider getting rid of the empty red boxes that are between some of the links.

It would not hurt you to consult with a site designer and see what they would charge you to develop a strong header for this site. I am sure it can be done fairly cheaply and I believe it will make a big difference.

The excerpt area is great. If I ever need text content, I will look you up.

                      My pleasure...

Here is a link for you.

                      http://securenetshop.com/

They are tied in tight with bluepay for processing and it is very easy to get things set up with both services.

                      Good luck.

I was hit up on AIM with this one....

In the future...Please post your questions here directly. The idea behind this thread is twofold:

1: Get some of your lurkers to start posting.
2: Share info with others who may have the same questions.

nxventures: I got this name from the GFY forums, where I have been lurking lately...I had some questions from the newbie perspective if you have a chance.

AMPContent: Why not post your questions on GFY?

nxventures: I have bad luck with message boards -- I tend to type the same way I speak... innocent well intended sarcasm doesn't come across well through text, I end up upsetting people. Usually I just drop AIM as well -- I am a telephone (at the least) kind of guy. But if it is more comfortable for you and you think it would contribute to GFY, I could do that.

AMPContent: I am more concerned with contributing to GFY than anything else. I am comfortable either way but when it is on the board, others can read it and they may learn as well.

nxventures: Whichever you think is best.

AMPContent: GFY is a harsh place, but the forum in question is a lot more laid back then the main one. Don't be afraid to post there.

AMPContent: What is your question? If I think it is good for the board then we can take it there.

nxventures: First, I have been successful with offering free memberships to services, free on the basis that the user completes a free offer, sign up for this or that. Is there any room for this in the adult area of the web?

AMPContent: Sure...It is in place everywhere in the adult web.

nxventures: Second, on TGP sites... I see some extremely ugly sites with tons of popups and excessive advertising... is this really necessary? I mean, is visitor retention really that unimportant?

AMPContent: No, nor is it preferred. The most sucessfull TGP's do not allow pop ups and they are fairly straight forward. TGP's want bookmarkers...By doing what you are referring to they will piss off a lot of surfers instead.

AMPContent: The money for a TGP is in the advertising. The cost of the ad is determined by the traffic volume. Pissing off your surfers will not increase that.

nxventures: I am a little confused as to how TGP lists work. From what I have seen many seem like FFA linking sites... is there a ranking to them?

AMPContent: Not sure but I would assume so.

AMPContent: As a matter of fact...Yeah, I think there is a ranking to them...I vaugely remember a conversation about that.

nxventures: What is the best way to go about exchanging links with adult webmasters? With the sites I have done in the past (automotive) there is a certain, you link me, I will link you sort of environment... is it the same, or is it necessary to use one of the traffic exchange programs to prove your traffic?

AMPContent: Most people/places are happy to exchange links with you. Link popularity is a big thing all over the web. The business type does not matter because the desired result is the same. Higher rankings.

nxventures: Your content seems higher priced than other places. Do you control the number of sites that have a certain image set?

                        AMPContent: Kinda.

My money is made from my paysite and with the sale of exclusive content. If I lower my prices I know I will sell more of the stuff on my site but that will flood the TGP's with my models and make it more difficult to sell exclusive sets and videos of them. By keeping the price a little higher, that naturally limits the number of licenses I sell.

nxventures: I figured that would help to a certain extent. What paysite do you own?

AMPContent: I am part owner of PIBCash.com

We currently have 21 sites. My personal baby is tonifreeland.com

nxventures: Nice site. I just signed up!

nxventures: You said there were sites like I was talking about starting? Do you know of any offhand?

AMPContent: hmmm...I think freecontent.com is one. Also there are a few programs like join4free,com and pink4free.com

Also a lot of people have things like what you see on the bottom of tonifreeland where we collect email addys and send them something in return.

nxventures: Are those sites just collecting e-mails and selling them, in return, giving access?

AMPContent: Some do some don't. We do not sell ours. We use them to cross sell our other sites.

nxventures: I appreciate your help, I aplogize if my questions seem dumbingly general.

AMPContent: Not at all. Ya gotta start somewhere.
