I was wondering if any webmasters or models could tell me how models usually get paid. I'm basically looking to find out if you pay cash or if you do a 1099. If you pay cash, how do you record it for book keeping and tax purposes? Thx in advance.
How do you pay your models?

Talent is payed just like any other service your company purchases, and is the responsibility of the talent to pay tax's on it.SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.Comment

not positive, but pretty sure a 1099 is required if you paid them over $600. Might be $800.
we pay by company check and we cut 1099's if over the limit.
should file 1099 for any contractor, unless said contractor is a registered corp. In that case no 1099, but you do need documentation from the contractor that he is incorporated. Your CPA can tell you more.Fyodor Dostoyevsky wrote: "Every man has reminiscences which he would not tell to everyone but only his friends. I pay cash, but get a signed receipt.
Of course, I also get SS# and ID with release form.
If I don't go over $600 in a year, no need to 1099 them.
So far, stayed under that with all the girls I've shot. Shot some last winter, and again this past month. Different years, helped me avoid the paperwork.Comment

Yes I pay mixture of cash and check. If I pay cash I get a signed reciept and the model release has payment amount. Model gets a 1099 if she earns more than $600 in 1 fiscal year from you. You cant pay her $599 each time and not file. Big Brother is watchingComment
