    Warning front page or not?

Is it best to go with the warning front page or not? Does it effect traffic? Legally if you live and host in america does it make you less liable if some anti-obsenity wacko wants to bust your balls. (although adult entertainment is legal, you still must watch out)

Because lately it seems not the norm...I land on sites that are very hardcore without any "adult only warning" or if your under 18 please leave messages. Are these sites fron the Netherlands where you can't get in trouble?

All opinions would be much appreciated...

In the US it is common practice to have a warning page and it does help with any zealots out there because you're giving visitors an opportunity to leave before being "violated" .

It does hurt traffic if you're referring links go to that page. When doing link trades have them link directly to your home page so the warning page is bypassed.

Another alternative is if your home page doesn't have any nudity on it you can skip the warning page. You'll still want to have a warning at the bottom of the page if you do this.

It depends on a lot of things weather you need it or not. Try starting a NEW CCBILL processed site without it., They now require it.

Yes you will see a drop in traffic but that is NOT really a bad thing.

Thanks, so it is better to be safe then sorry...

What about blogs? There is an option in wordpress...to have a default frontpage...also wise to use it I guess? But I have not come across any warning pages yet on blogs.

There is an option to use a static page in Wordpress along with different graphics for different sections. In the settings/reading there's an option to select what page you want to be displayed as the home page.

To have different graphics/themes for other pages go to manage/pages/selected_page and there's an option down on the page that says "page template".

If your url reflects your content, screw warning pages. People know damn well when their about to click onto your page, they will see porn.
I own quite a few urls, .com .net......... They all scream porn. I do not bother with warning pages. If the surfer is to fucking stupid to know what their getting into then they can file a fucking complaint with whoever and fuck off.

Market your shit right, and fuck the warning page.
