    New HD Flash "format"?

    Hi,
I think some time ago (a few months) I saw a post about a new version of Flash that plays HD in some especially good way (hopefully I am not mistaken).
Could you guys let me know what was the buzz?
    Thank you

I suspect you are referring to the addition of H.264 support:

yes, and that is not new, AVC (H.264) has been availible for just over a year.

the benafit of using this, IMO rather then having HD content is lower overhead for the same quality.

      oh, and some HD :p

what I REALLY want though, whic will help sites ratehr then users is a p2p video syndication, a client that people use on their computer, which grabs the header from the site, then connects to the network to see all other people watching it, and using their upstream, this will allow sites providing content to send out up to 1% of total bandwith (headers are required)

I saw a proof of concept and used it, a little buggy but awsome nevertheless. I viewed a popular clip on youtube, and even though the file was 28 megs, I only downloaded 400k from youtube!

here is an example: note, you WILL need a slightly faster computer to play it (2.4ghz or above)

the amazing thing about this video? it uses 500k/s! youtube uses 260k/s, this is quite a step up from double the quality.

rendertime for this video is 4X longer then regular flash.

right click on the video and select full screen for best quality

          react,
yes this is exactly what I was refering to.
          Thank you.
But I didn't understand what should I do to use it.
Get the latest Flash CS3, and it will have H.264 codec in it, and render my videos in Premiere in Flash choosing this codec? And then the viewers must have Flash Player 9 in order to watch it?
This is the impression I got after reading the article.
Or should I do something different to utilize it?
          Thank you

            cryptie,
but as I understand you are talking about the technology that will combinedownloaded instances of a clip by different people to your stream, right?
If so, it will be hard to implement into a paid site, right?

prettyumuch it. however, best way is probably to use the command line ffmpeg. second best was is to use flash's own video encoder.

coolest part? it does not need to be implemented on ANY site. if you are running this program, any site's video you visit that has any other people running the same program will automatically download from their cache.
