Starting A Paysite....

Hi Guys,

I want to start a paysite, but just wondering what ways you would recommend going about it. I have content and will build the site once i've decided how feasable it would be.

Which billing company do you recommend?
What charges are there for billing companies?

Should I use a biller that has a built in affiliate program?
If not then what other affiliate programs are affordable and available?

you should have thought about these things before you spent time and money on content.

seems like your going to have a hard time. bring in your content to pornaccess and they will take care of all your hosting, billing and affiliate needs.

Do yourself a favor and spend a few days/weeks reading up on things here and on other adult boards.

Starting a pay site without having any knowledge about traffic and this industry in general is a bad idea, at least that's what I hear, I don't run a paysite... yet.

READ, READ, READ.... It took me a longtime of reading the webmaster forums to pickup the lingo even. After you start understanding the basics, start building a simple site. You'll end up revamping it several times before it ever starts to make decent sales. In the meantime, try submitting your content to other sites on a non-exclusive license. That way you can start to make a buck on the content you have. Once your site starts to grow, then think about holding back some of the new content as exclusive to your site. And most of all, don't think you'll make a fast buck. This industry is so over saturated, that it takes a longtime time to start to see real results on a paysite when you're starting as a one guy operation with limited cash flow.

I don't mean to be harsh, but you're not going to make it if you don't know what to do with the biz. Many people got ideas but never know how to make their idea into reality.

If you don't know what you're doing, I suggest don't get started as most likely you'll fail.

1 suggestion..... don't get pist over these comments. They are all established guys here who's telling you the reality. Think about it, read, research and then get your site up!

Maybe I should of made it clear that I've worked in the biz for quite a while now, but never for myself.

The main questions and points I was trying to make was the billing process just general recommendations on who to use and what charges come with certain billing processors and card types.

I've worked on quite a few porn sites and really have been just considering branching into it for myself.

On that basis any suggestions billing wise?

As fas as billing is concerned it pays out to have an alternative billing method to your standard credit card billing, we have worlwide billing by phone and SMS, and do not charge our customers for setting up our system.

I 2nd ccbill. Their customer support is great. A lot of our clients are using them.

i suggest being an affiliate for a few years first, then see if you want to start your own paysite afterwards.

Take the time to research and to learn how to properly run a paysite before you jump into it. I think it's great that you are on the board and are asking questions but based on your questions, you have a long way to go before being able to successfully run a paysite. As far as billing, I have always used CCBill and have always been very happy with their service.

you didn't ask any traffic Q's, just billing Q's. Plus you said you've worked in the industry for awhile. So i'm assuming you know exactly how & where you are going to get the traffic for it. Otherwise you shouldn't just jump into having paysites right away.

Anyways, ccbill is always high recommended and will be easier for you to get webmasters to promote (as opposed to some of the other not so big third party billers)
