Mac users (designers) step inside, please.

I have a question for you: is Macbook Pro powerful and fast enough for graphics/video rendering? I see a lot of designers working with a mackbook pro + external monitor.

The biggest problem with Apples is their video cards. Even on the MBP it's a crappy out dated video card. I have a 2.8 gig iMac and it does ok but I do a little 3d work on it and you can feel the limitations.

Hardware is definitely good and for video it's good. For photoshop and general photo stuff OS X sucks ass though. Windows is much better for photo work.

Make sure you load it up with as much RAM that you can afford...but dont buy from Apple directly though (major rip-off).
Macs are used alot by people in Multimedia because of cool software available and as for hardware issues...there will be none as the only thing currently making good use of multicore CPU's today is Video and Audio compression/rendering.

              for sure

just be sure to buy it with the graphics card and all the memory you need because it's impossible to upgrade the damn things.. that's my only complaint with mine
