    MYSQL problems

I am trying to install some scripts that I currently have running on other domains. I know how to install these and have successfully installed them as recently as last month.
Now I cant. I get the error connecting to database, password-username wrong screen. They are right. To test this I let cpanel try and install scripts that it previously has installed. It gets the same message after install.
So I SSH in and as root I can access mysql and all of its databases.
My question is, shouldnt I be alble to log in as a user of that particular domain and still be able to use the mysql command to connect to that database?
I cant. I get an error 1045 access denied.
I would really like to be able to install stuff again. I also need to be careful not to screw any of the databases that are still working up; like all my tgps and trade scripts.

    update:
phpmyadmin can read the database, but when I have it send commands it gets the same error message. I was using phpmyadmin as root before and didnt notice this.

you have to set up access for a new user, do you not? unless you are using the mysql root to access all the DB's, which is not recommended..
