Google Page Rank (PR) Update

As some of you may have already noticed (for better or for worse) Google is doing a page rank update this weekend.

Have any of you seen changes in your PR or back links listed in Google so far this weekend? Any good news?!

Hope it's over now, most of my sites have retained their PR and one new one has jumped from 0 to 2 with little work, so i'm mostly happy.

Anyone else seen many good or bad changes in Page Rank?

I update some sites very frequently and their ranking changes with the wind. PR doesn't mean much to me as long as the keywords are sending traffic.

I think it's finished. Things seemed to have calmed down at least.

From what I see here and on other forums, it does not seem to have been as eventfull an update as past ones have been.

Many people stayed very much the same, with very little change, good or bad.

Some of the paid directories I see though seem to have lost pretty bad. Plenty down to PR0 from PR4+ last week. Poor guys

I went from PR3 to PR2 even though I have a shitload of backlinks everywhere.

Understanding Google is like trying to understand a woman... impossible.

Time is your friend in this case. You can work really hard on getting a ton of links but if those links didn't get attached to a site that has had a recent index update then Google doesn't recognize them.

For the most part I have found Google does a brief drive by every 10 to 30 days but even if it finds changes it could take anywhere from 60 to 90 days to really register in the google brain.

So if you trade hard links today it maybe be let's say 2 to 3 months for google to really understand that link and register it in all the places it needs to and then you still have to wait for the next PR update after that.

Obviously none of this is an exact science but these are things I have observed.

Surfer so far as i can tell, dont give a fuck about page rank either.

PR isn't reliable so why pay any attention to it. I look at the traffic and sales stats.

I use the Firefox extension SearchStatus -- it shows you PageRank, Alexa ranking, and Compete rankings. Highly recommend over google toolbar, which has privacy issues (but is another option to see PR)
