    Producing pornos?

I am fairly new to the business, dabbled in adult AM for a while, but that is really the gist of it.

A while back a friend of mine approached me to go 50/50 with him on an adult movie. I never did. However, I wanted to get a sense from everyone here to see if this is still a money maker for someone like myself. How does this process work? From what I understand the movie is made, edited, and then sold to wholesalers.

Can this be lucrative for a new comer?

Getting a solid distribution deal for a 1 time DVD isnt going to happen. Most distributors want 3-5 movies in the can before they will discuss taking your movie on for distribution.

And if they do, its probably to rip you off. I cant tell you how many phone calls I get from DVD guys telling me how their distributor never paid them.

if you want to produce content but don't want to start your own paysite, you can always sell the indiviual videos as exclusive or non-exclusive content. there are lots of sites out there that buy homemade videos.

if you're in it for the long haul, you may want to consider opening a paysite.

I am not sure if I have the budget to make 3-5, especially with those risks. Doesn't sound like it is worth while for anyone.

Isn't it true that the competition would be very difficult? I have been an porn affiliate for some time and I know how difficult it is to get customers. Do most paysite owners mostly reply on affiliates to drive their sales?
