    Technical Q re: .flv video

hi there, i have what should be a simple q for those who know lots.... I want to put some flv video previews on my site. I have After Effects pro, which can export video to FLV. BUT i make my pages with Dreamweaver MX 2004, and apparently adobe discontinued the flv extension for that to get people to buy CS3. Does anyone know a workaround other than the obvious "buy an upgrade"? I will get the upgrade but i cant do it now since i wouldnt have the time to learn the new software yet. Anyone know how to maybe do it manually, by plopping in some code that will put a flv player on a page?

Seems like you would need to do it with Flash. You create a little player in Flash and then link the FLV to it. It's all drag and drop but nothing is really easy in Flash if you've never done it before, which is why I quit using Flash about three years ago, nothing is easy, nothing is quick. You have to use it every day to be comforable and efficient with it. But maybe someone else knows a better way. I'm just guessing.

actually the super easy way was more possible than i thought. I knew dreamweaver CS3 was super easy drag and drop for this, i just didn't want to pony up for it yet.... so the solution provided to me in a helpful PM, was download the 30 day trial from adobe, make some template pages, and then just make all future pages based on the template. And btw, it IS super easy in DW CS3. It does all the flash work for you, you just say insert video, pick a file, and voila.

or you could just embed one of the many free (or very cheep) flv players out there...

            h t t p : / / f l o w p l a y e r . o r g /

            or search google for

            free html flv player

and im sure you'll be able to find tons of results.

...altho this method will probably force you to jump out of that beloved 'designer' mode in dw... which altho may not seam so at first, is a VERY good thing...
