Blocking Hitbots and such in .htaccess file; Is there a better solution?

    Hi,

Currently I'm blocking hitbots and such in my .htaccess file. I check my trade script (SlothTrader) at least once a day and look at the "no ref"'s and the "no trades"'s. Every IP-address in my "no ref" and "no trade" that visited me over 10 times in 24 hours in going into my .htaccess file to be blocked.

    Now for the questions:
    - Is there a better (maybe automated) solution to block hitbots and cheaters?
    - Is it wise to unblock these IP-address after, say, 3 months or so?
    - Do you guys have any other tips and/or ideas about blocking hitbots you'd like to share?

    Regards,

    See sig.
Hitbots are automatically filtered and the IP stays filtered for 24 hours. The maximum raws and clicks each IP can do is adjustable via control panel
