VirtualDub question. please help

1. We use DivX 5.0 codec with VirtualDub
2. Depends on bitrate, final resolution and video/audio codecs

The XVID codec is as good as DivX5, but doesn't require money/crack to register.

However, without using standard codecs and/or MPG format, many people are not able to download/install a codec by themselves (note that Windows Media Player, if it fails to d/l a codec, does NOT give any information about where to look for it!)

Therefore if you're using ANY codec it is recommendable to place a link to codec's download somewhere near the movie links, and make it _visible_.

Good to see no one mention the bugy divX4 codec.
I´d rather stay to divX3.
Besides the fact, that most people around have it..it still works the best for me.

Divx 4 & 5 always bugs me with ripping dvd´s.
Besides that i really haven´t seen any aprovement with 4 or 5.
