    Hardlink cheaters

It seems that half my trades drop my link after a week or two. WTF?

Yup. It really sucks when people do that. It hurts them just as bad as you, though they don't realize it. The deal is Google relies on consistency. When people put up and take down links, Google says: Fuck you, dude. I can't trust you.

Why do people do it? Because they're told repeatedly that it's better to have more inbound than outbound links, which is true.

But what is also true and what no ever says is: Google fucks you when it browses your site one week, finds an outbound link, sends people to your site based on that link, then goes back the next week and the link is gone. So, yeah, good to have a lot inbound links. Very bad to take down outbound links.

You'll see a lot mystified posts on this board by people wondering why their PageRank dropped. And while it's not always the case that they took down a hardlink and caused the drops -- it definitely can happen. Taking down hard links can fuck up your PageRank.
