a question for the heavyweights

greetings folks..I was recommended to this forum thru various photographers who have shot a friend of mine, and I have a handful of questions to those who have been at this for a bit. I have just been steered into this realm by promising a dear friend of mine penthouse/hustler model mia presley (visit here to see what she looks like: (miapresley.com) to create a website for her. I am a print designer with very limited web skills, however managed to hit the books hard this past month and get myself a site up thats now 65% completed. She is a total solo/g/g chick, so i am aware that the content has to be thorough in both those dept. what would u say would be a reasonable amount of video to launch with? 15 video sets in each category? both solo/g/g. There is of course a handful of vids in a "candid" section of the site, but none of them last say more then 3-4minutes. I have photosets of her out the ass right now, prob about 30 diff galleries im launching with. Also, i saw a hosting thread on here with a ridiculous amount of recommendations, she uses godaddy? would that present a problem when dealing with traffic? and lastly, the legalities of adult websites. are there any registration formalities, U.S.C. statements? paperwork that has to be mailed and sent in? Once again, Im a novice and have been at this for about a month, I just want to make sure my ground is covered on all fronts. thanks for reading gentlemen.

I'm not a gentlemen but I am a lady lol. I would recommend she move her hosting to a dedicated host also one that deals more with adult. Godaddy is good for domain registrar but IMO that's about it. I know some girls who are on there and every time they want a nice little script installed that their low grade hosting plan doesn't cover they are looking at having to upgrade to a more expensive account. It's ridiculous...

Anyway... Mia looks hot, she's obviously got penthouse/hustler following, the traffic could get heavy and you want to be on a host that is going to be able to handle the traffic and anything else that you want to do with her site. Especially more so if a sponsor program is opened up to promo her site(very good idea). Most likely you will have to make sure there is some kind of security like strongbox installed on there, so you see this is where the whole server capability thing comes back into play. You don't want to be screwing around with a rinky dink host when you are dealing with a paysite. Hosting with 24/7 technical support that is not going to shirk responsibility and actually going to help you out. It's going to be a little pricey but it's better to pay it now, get it out of the way so that you don't run into upgrade nightmares and sticker shock down the road. Get a plan with a good amount of bandwidth because overages can really get out of hand really fast.

As for video content... I'm not the best to recommend on how many episodes to start out with as my site dealt heavily with photo sets and only video clips. It sure does sound like a substantial amount to start with , I would recommend having plenty in reserves for regular updates so that naturally you can always be ahead of the game. As for handling 2257, everything has to be documented and kept at the place of business where the site is maintained and run, nothing has to be sent in to anyone. All photo ids etc have to be on file and ugh being 2257 compliant is a PIA. Here is a thread from July explaining some changes made it will give you an idea 2257 changes

fantastic, thank u for taking the time in writing, its def alot to digest, and digest slow as i don't want to overlook anything. the 2257 stuff im looking into as we speak, and as far as the hosting, I keep seeing this swivwell co.? name pop up, once again being a newb, never heard of em. Is transfering data from one hosting co. to another a tremendous pain in the ass? and can u recommend perhaps a hosting co. that does offer something like strongbox?
the last thing anyone needs is a hacked site. Money is not the issue here, knowing this girl forever, she is going to side with taking as many precautions as poss to make everything a professional setting. We are aware of collecting an arsenal of content for updates, after she did work for FTV (which wil be out in oct) and several other solo/glamour/g/g she saw that these cats were usually several months ahead of the game in updates. Mia has only been doing this since march, and the demand already for galleries and a launch date has become a bit fierce. And lastly, sooo sorry lol..but how does one go about getting sponsored for a site. This is something i would like to look further into as well. I'll try to google things of relevance, though any pointers or suggestions off the bat u may have would be more then appreciated. Sorry to soak this outta u, I just don't want to find stuff out the hard way. maybe thats inevitable.

Prices. Start low, say 14.95 per month, raise your prices as you get more material.

Legalities aside, the best thing you can do for the site is get Mia to answer every e-mail (for real, not you, her). Get her to do Live Webcams. Get her to do appearances where people who join get to meet her personally.

You do that, you can charge whatever you like within reason and people will join and stay.

If you are looking to have your own server to grow the site or multiple sites into, feel free to check out some of our companies recent specials. A shared hosting package on many hosts can be enough to get started, but for growth, and longevity nothing beats having your own dedicated server.
