I am trying to understand the differences between these redirects:

301 - Permanent
302 - Temporary
303 - Replaced

What is the difference? Is there much difference? How does Google
treat each? When to use each? What are the considerations?

Which is best to use for forwarding a domain to a sponsor via an affiliate link?

303 See Other

is the right choice for what you want. See RFC2616 for details. It should cause Google to follow the redirect, whereas 301 makes Google delete the old URL (AFAIK).
