    SEO Hardlink Question

    Hello,

I have a site with 2000 + pages. Most of them are galleries but some are gallery category pages (list of galleries).

I want to start trading hardlinks soon but I want to get my shit together first.

I am looking for opinions on how I should do the linking to/from other sites:

    1) get the linker to hardlink to my index page and i put their hardlink on my index page

    2) get the linker to hardlink to one of my category pages and i put their hardlink on that same page

    3) get the linker to hardlink to one of my category pages and i put their hardlink on a different category page

    4) get the linker to hardlink to my index page and i put their hardlink on one of my category pages

    5) get the linker to hardlink to one of my category pages and i put their hardlink on my index page

    6) all of the above

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Hi cornernote,

I would make a difference between small websites and big sites.

For the websites that have a high PR I would choose to link them from index to index. This way your webpage's PR will ingrease, but do note that google doesn't like to much outgoing links on your index page so make sure that you make a selection of websites that you choose to link on your index.

For the smaller websites with a lower PR I would link them from categorie pages and let them link to your index page.

Your index page will hopefully get a high PR this way and by linking to your galleries from your index the pr of your galleries will increase.

      Thanks ez12.

Do you think sites will be happy to link to my homepage if they are only linked from my category page?

        Hi cornernote... hope this helps...

There are issues around SEO and hard links...

First... most inbound links are good to have, however you might have some "bad neighbors" that might effect your Google position... Also the reason for the links should be to drive some real traffic to your site(s) directly and not to just effect you PR number... Yes it's true Google's pr is a consideration on your ranking, however unlike what some people say, it does not override and circumvent all other factors regarding Search Engine Optimization...

Now the SEO aspect of doing your link is that it should have at least one actual keyword found within your site. The link will effect the pr of the page it is pointing to... but the most important aspect is not really the SEO of the hard link but rather having your partners display your link in a good position on their website(s) and that they drive some actual traffic to you...

Google has indicated on their submissions site that they don't like sites with over 100 outgoing links... also if you group your "partner" links at the very bottom of your site; Google and the other search engines may treat you the same way as link farms... Also do you think grouping the links cluttered together looks good and do you really think you will get some real traffic... Such is just something to consider...

There are tuns of noobs here on GFY... Just go and read what Google has to say first about their rules on submitting to their service...

        Later,
