Vexxhost? WebAir?

So I was ready with credit card on hand to purchase some web hosting.

I've had a few recommendations and good opinions about Webair, but recently saw a link somewhere in the forum about Vexxhost.

Now, Webair plans look good, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it 'cheap' hosting. After all, in their basic plan they offer 5GB storage and 250GB transfer for $10 a month, which is not SUPER by today's hosting stardards.

Now I went to see Vexxhost and I really liked what I saw (even the site design and navigation and all... doens't look 'canned' but custom made).
They claim 100GB space and 1TB of data transfer for $3.95 a month or $2.99 with 1 year prepaid.
Vexxhost claims to have their own servers and having experience like no other and yada yada..

I was tempted to sign up, but I know better after having bad experiences with some hosts in the past.

So I decided to go easy on them and went to internic to see some numbers.

Internic says Webair has been around since 1997, and that their domain is set to expire in 2015. I like those numbers!

Then I get to Vexxhost. Internic says they registered that domain on 2006 and that is set to expire in 2008

Now I know expiration dates don't matter much since domains are usually renewed... but to me it shows a bit of commitment and seriousness about keeping a site online. After all, why not register blocks of 5 or 10 years if I am so confident about my businness?

Then I saw Vexxhost was registered by enom.com (created on 1997, expires on 2012 ), so I go there and find hosting/domain registar company, except their plans are completely archaic ($6 a month for 1GB space and 10GB transfer, etc)

bottom line, i'm confused

Maybe what I really have to do is take this question to a webmaster forum where they actually review hosting offers...

The Webair plan ( 5GB storage and 250GB transfer for $10 a month, ) is very decent, in fact very very decent.

The Vexxhost ( 100GB space and 1TB of data transfer for $3.95 a month ) is a proposal for suckers ... read theit TOS & AUP, they must have a trigger clause to shut you off .... if you use a certain part of that.

Why would anyone get a dedicated server with 1000 gb a month ( about $120.00 ) when 3.95 could do it ....

Well although I sell for Splitinfinity, and have never used webair. Webair is a bunch of good guys, and there pricing is not bad ethier. They have been in business for almost as long as we have and if you wonder why there pricing isnt as cheap as some hosting company that will go under within a year or two is because unlike these 3rd party resellers company's, webair owns there own stuff. Buy's there own bandwidth, have there own ips and so forth. You go with a company like us, webair, oc3networks mojohost and so forth you will see the difference. Just my two cents.

I have the basic WebAir plan for a new wordpress blog. It's been up for 2 weeks with no problems. Probably not the kinda response you're looking for, but as of now, I'd have no reason to steer away from them.

Webair is great for big webmaster who get to deal with their top tech, Sagi.
For more typical webmasters, Phatservers is unbelievably - the very best tech support.
Chilihost used to be awesome. Then they were bought. We'll see what happens to them now.
Swiftwill is tops for security.
As far as CHEAP hosting - well I don't do cheap because it costs so much more when
you're sites are down, servers are slow, and you can't reach tech support until Monday morning.
It costs so much less in the long run to spend a couple dollars on quality.

Next of all why are we even talking about a host here that when you read their AUP specifically states NO ADULT CONTENT? Hosting there is just going to be another one of those horror stories where you build up a business only to loose it over night when they see your bandwidth usage and find the adult content.

Support the hosts that support the industry and are familiar with what you are doing, it may cost a little more but in the long run you will be so much better off for it.

That place is a joke, a bunch of dsl based home jobs. GFY is a much better resource for quality adult hosting.
