This isn't an attempt at hijacking your thread, but maybe some of the pros can give me some advice that will be beneficial to both of us since I'm in a similar position as you.

I started an amateur blog probably close to 2 weeks ago. I'm now indexed on google, MSN and yahoo. I'm getting around 300-450 clicks per day by submitting my link to adult directories and a couple link trades. So far today I've had 15 clicks from google. Is that pathetic or an okay start from a beginner webmaster?

Does this sound like okay progress? I know SEO is a big deal when it comes to this and I'm reading all I can about it and doing what I can.

The only money I've put out so far is domain expense, UUGallery license for making galleries on the blog - oh yea, got a theme for Wordpress. I've yet to make any money back but I'm getting about 20-30 uniques per day on my primary sponsor. I'm a little weary at buying traffic at the moment without putting in proper effort into SEO and trading links first.

Since your new, you have had to of searched for porn before. What sites did you like, what did you have bookmarked or visited often. Do something that you will enjoy working on, it will make it easier. Or think of something that you haven't seen before, something that will catch a surfers eye and keep them coming back.

My suggestion is that you learn how the search engines works, SEO, and then practice to be good at it. It’s hard, but the only investment is a domain name and a lot if time, and it will pay of!

thanks for the tip... this affiliate looks golden. Hopefully they can dump a bunch of 90x90 thumbs for me to fill my TGP. I've been cropping manually and it's a pain in my ass.

@Thread starter- hey man I'm new too, I'm building a TGP. I spent about a month brushing up on HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and teaching myself the basics of PHP, w3cschools.com helped me a lot in that. I spent the extra time so that I could build a unique page. (Check it out- sexyoptions.com/TGP.php), it shuffles everything I have into the TGP table automatically. I didn't spend any money aside from the initial hosting cost. The aesthetics of the site still need some work, but I'm learning EVERY DAY.

Although I haven't tried them yet, some resources I'd recommend:
ArrowScripts.com for a good trade script (if you're doing trades). And try trafficholder.com if you want to buy your starting traffic. If you set your trades at a decent skim (60-65% to trades), then the traffic you buy is going to return with good conversions.

                      I know nothing about blogs....

Anyway, hope that helped, wish you luck!

Creating an adult site isn't as easy as most of the world seems to think. It's a lot of hard work and without a big budget to pay people to do the starter stuff for you, a lot of trial and error.

First you need to pick a theme for your site. Be unique about your theme. Don't pick a theme like "free porn stars". It's to big. Think SMALL and niche. How about blonde lesbians who like toys? The more specific you get, the less people you have competing with you. With this theme, all the content on your website will revolve around blonde lesbians who play with sex toys.

Next pick a domain name that goes with the theme of your website.

Domain names are a lot like real estate. It's where an internet business sets up shop to do business. In real estate they say only three things matter ... location, location, location! That applies to a domain name as well.

Sure we all wished we were living on easy street or had a shop on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills (those are the love.com and sex.com type domains) but in reality, most of us aren't. But just because you don't have a domain worth $20 million dollars, doesn't mean you can't still have a decent location (aka Domain name).

Think carefully about the domain name you pick. Is it easy to spell? Chasey Lain is a great example of a word hard to spell. Her name is "Chasey Lain" but people can spell Lain as Lane or Laine too. The point is ... pick a domain name that doesn't include words that are complicated to spell. For example, I have a website about Pornstar Lanny Barby and my domain is pornstar-lanny.com. It's not the best domain name in the world, but it works for me. :P

When you pick a domain name, now design your page. Don't design your website with a ton of ads on it. That's such a newbie mistake.

                        a) it looks tacky
                        b) it increases page load times and that could make people want to leave your site

Design your website with the end user in mind -- those are the people who will visit your webiste. What would they want? (within your theme) You can add ONE ad per page, but really anything more just makes you look cheap and tacky.

There is so much more but this should get you started.

Make sample galleries or ask some sponsors out there for them and submit those with your referral links on them to all TGP/MGP sites out there with Chameleon Submitter ( http://www.chameleonsubmitter.com/as.php ). Once you are comfortable with the process, focus on Partner Accounts.

You can do the similar with free sites and Link lists (Link Lists are popular because they create very productive aggregate traffic)..
