Setting up Feedwordpress with cron?

What exactly is the proper way to setup feedwordpress to check for updates itself? I tried following the instruction to setup a cron job for this purpose but it doesn't seem to be working very well? What is the proper way to load update-feeds.php once every 24 hours?
