.htaccess question

I have a paysite and when you go to my member area
http://www.amadoraspt.com/membros/membros.htm
and dont have a password you get this:

Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

I want it to redirect to my tour page instead and I think it's done with .htaccess but I'm having problems. Can you help?

In other words, change the design of your 401 error page to look like your tour page, or place the redirect code in the header of your 401 error page.

If you do not have access to your error pages, contact your hosting company, they may be able to help you.

I have this on my root folder:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.amadoraspt.com
ErrorDocument 401 http://www.amadoraspt.com/inscricao.htm

when I open an invalid url the 404 is working, but the 401 never works....
do I have to duplicate that in every haccess on the protected dirs? I am doing something wrong :\

Place that .htaccess file in the root of your web site.

Well it seems like you have it setup right, you may have to change an entry in apache.conf file (your webhost would do this), this would allow the .htaccess file to change your 401 error page. Might be setup to just allow the .htaccess to change the 404 but not the 401.

Authorization Required is 403 error
so add the next line to .htaccess
ErrorDocument 403 http://www.yoursite.com/tour.html

also you can add
ErrorDocument 500 http://www.yoursite.com/tour.html
