Traffic trouble

Is a newbie I find there is very strange shit about this busines. Have a site with very modest traffic but good conversion racio 50 to 1 up to 300 to 1. Trying to build traffic but bought traffic has no effect. Advertising text links with a couple of sites very effective with good sales until prices went up.
But how to explain a text ad on www.yourpornchannel.com 18,072 clicks not one sale! The site is in english, so the punters understand they are clicking to a paysite. ALexa says the traffic is coming from around the world.

Bought traffic also does not convert. Even supposedf quality targeted traffic. It seems to me that traffic on its own is a very poor way to build a site. It must be links and traffic from sites with real content and real visitors. Is buying and selling of traffic and shunts punters around 100 s of link pages just devaluing the value of traffic???

I am very interested in anyones understanding...and where we can spend money to promote our site effectively...

What a mess !!! Your website needs help; big time !

Most of the traffic I get is from the Search Engines... however, I am just starting to buy traffic myself. If your website is too complex or is setup wrong; all the traffic in the world will not get you the results you are seeking...

From what you wrote you seem to be having problems converting your traffic and I think you are asking for some feedback...

I would strongly suggest that you scrap your website and get an associate program promo page setup on your web host; at least for the time being ... Then purchase traffic to your promo webpage then see how your traffic converts for you ... If you find that your traffic is good then start writing a really simple website and buy traffic to it and so on ... If you do not get the same conversion rate then redo your website. Just remember not all websites convert the same...

If you keep your website simple stupid then you should be just fine, but remember to display your associate program(s) products and or services on your site with their banners etc...

We do not want to make the same stuff that is already out there by the ton, we are trying to do something different and reach a different audience.

No, you're missing the point. Your site is impossible to understand and navigate effectively; the type of traffic is irrelevant. Here's a little fact for you: if a user is confused, they will leave. With your current site you are completely alienating your potential customers.

What video channel ? All our videos are to be downloaded, and we have have had no complaints from our members or the reviewers about the links not working.

If the discussion is about what is a good website it becomes a different discussion and taste, what audience which are trying to reach become the issue. If somebody says they don't like the site unless I know a hell of a lot about that person, his experence values etc it doesn't mean anything.

To blame the site ignores the contradiction between geting low sale racios from some traffic and none from others. If it was just the site there should be no sales.

This does not mean I don't think our site could not be improved but it is another thread...

Having looked at the homepages of the critics of our site I see that none seem to have any content but are just pages of links. If you want to say that the fault is with our site design then give an example of a good site then we can judge. Otherwise your comments are without value.

As I have said before you still havn't explained why we have very good conversions from some traffic. 1 sign up per 100 clicks...I believe that is very good or am I wrong about that?

I think you may have developed your layout for a large computer screen? They are getting more popular but not everyone can afford a large monitor. I have a 17" and your page looks all screwy, the ads at the top and bottom and sides are covering up most of the part where you have your entrance link and where all your content shows. The content window is SMALL. This makes the text for the entrance link small and it's hard to spot. I think if you get rid of the frames your page will look much better.

The layout and look of your site is very important, don't knock it. If a site looks unprofessional, they won't trust you or your content with their money.

Why say you have a conversion rate of 1 in 100 when you have just told us you got 18000 clicks without a single sale?

Don't get defensive, these guys rake in the big $$$ and they're just trying to help you do the same. You mention you want to be original, well as original as shit is, shit doesn't sell.

You need to update your site, get some flash happening, some nicely done CSS and divs (none of this tables shit) improve the colour scheme (try to be consistant)

The fonts are ugly

navigation was awful

the tour page not only looked unprofessional, but it was WAY too long. Try not to go any further than the fold on tour pages.

Erm I could pick lots of things.

But most importanly, don't take what we're saying as insults, take it as constructive critisizm, go away, fix it, then come back and show us how much better it is

Cherry, when I went to the site I didn't know what was going on. I accidentally clicked "NO" on the index page and went to an anti-war page! Anyway, when I got to your main page I didn't know what to think!

Just remember this.......It takes seconds to sell! I wasted seconds trying to figure out what was going on.

I'm new to this business - haven't really started yet. I'm trying to learn how to make clean graphics and a clean page-layout before I begin signing up for affiliate programs, but this struck me as interesting. How can I go about getting an "associate program promo page" to host under a domain name, because when I look at affiliate sign-up sheets they always ask for your web address (but i dont have one yet!)

Cherry7, I think most traffic you can buy is just rubbish. Those 18,000 people who ended up at your site probably didn't want to be there, which is why none of them joined. They probably got bounced there when they clicked a link or thumbnail they thought would take them somewhere else. I've tried a bit of paid traffic, and I'm still trying to find some that's worthwhile. (But I'm no expert. I'm learning the ropes, just like you. Go, Nottingham Forest!)

You're almost there, just need to hire a pro for a redesign. Everyone here has learned or is learning from trial and error. You're almost there, just need to jig a few things about on the pages and think about the structure. Go and have a look at some of the most successful sites around and think about what makes them user-friendly, and more likely to catch the sale.
