    Opening another browser tab?

    Is there a way to have IE or FF open another a webpage tab with javascript?

    Nope.

    FF (and I think IE7) users have the option - during setup - to determine what happens to "New Windows".

    But as far as some specific method for a new tab, the answer is No.

                  Thanks schneemann, you're really nice. I took your answer as "I don't know", not as an absolute "No".

                  Seems like it's possible with XUL, example here, and since in Firefox AFAIK you can embed XUL in an HTML page, I thought that it might be possible. So I'm interested in seeing a solution, if one exists.

                    It is possible only with XUL, which means it would take a big steaming shit on non-Gecko based browsers.

                    If that means "possible" to you, then you go ahead and use it.

                    Until then, the answer is still "no".
