Are blogs a good way of testing a different niche out before you get into it? (i.e. buying a domain, builiding a large site or TGP,etc.)

if you use something like wordpress it SEOs the site pretty much for you. Once you are rolling you will want to fix up your robots.txt file. But worry about that later.

do a google search for "wordpress seo" you'll get a pretty good chunk of info

for SEO tips, I'd recommend to hang around webmasterworld.com forums, it's a mainstream forum, but it's all the same, I think
