Poor Promotion! Help!

Im having trouble with promotion. Ive been in this game for 6 months now. I see alot of sites advertised on here that have great alexa ratings and mine seem to be declining consistently or at a stand still. Im stuck on promotion ideas. Im a decent designer, but need major help on marketing. So far I have advertised using:

-Whatever toplist/TGP I can find.
-Banner exchanges with other sites
-purchasing text ads on AVN
-Myspace & hahahahahaha page w/banners.

Im trying to get more traffic and my efforts seem to be in vain even though Im logging in a lot of hours. Anyone have any good advice for me?

i don't know if this works for everyone but....

don't use the same keyword more than 3 times in your meta tags
Make your title descriptive
and get alot of links to your site (hardlinks)

For steady long term traffic, SEs are the best and cheapest way to go. Don't focus on one site too much, build a little network. Growing one site to 100k is alot harder than growing 50 to 2k.
