Using an iframe on my homepage...

hey,

i put in an iframe on the homepage of my website (listed in my sig).

I used it at the bottom of the page for the archive, so i don't have to update every page daily, just one.

The only problem is that when i press refresh on my homepage, it does not refresh the archive.

Is there anyway to get this page to refresh itself to make sure that it is up to date for the user who bookmarks my site?

It's probably the settings within your cache/history. Try this on the iframe file and add it below the title tags:

<*META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="20;URL=http://www.yourdomain.com/iframepage.html">

Remove the * in the coding - wasn't sure what it would do to this thread.

The 20 is how many seconds to refresh. Obviously rename the URL.

what is the main difference between the iframe & just having javascript on the page??? don't they essentially do the same thing???

using an iframe won't cause your page to stall if it can't load whatever is in the iframe. BUT iframe's aren't seo friendly since the content is seperate from the rest of the page. so it's good for ads and such..

Now since you guys are talking about using javascript, how would I use javascript on my page to bring up some links to friends sites?

If you look at the homepage of my site, you will see at the top, just under the logo, there is a bunch of links. That page is currently an iframe and it's location is here:

How would set that up in javascript so it is more SE friendly?
