i know this is a long shot, but...... Recently i purchased a domain name that i know someone had to own at one point in time. Is there anyway for me to check the history of my new name, or will it remain a mystery?
Like i said, long shot, But i would really like to know. Thanks

If there was a site on it, you can watch it at the waybackmachine at archive.org. Otherwise, no idea!

domaintools.com has this feature, but you have to pay them some money to get access to the whois history feature. Once you pay however, you can access the history of a whole ton of domains.

Whois history is not a feature of the root whois servers. Domaintools just does mass whois lookups on domains, and stores the history in their servers.
