tgp script ( php / python or java )

    Greetins,

I'd like to write a tgp script. I've done a few mainstream projects in java but I realise in the adult biz tomcat and servlet/ejb containers aren't real popular( or are they?). Anyway I know what I would like in a tgp script considering my "green-ness". I haven't tried or used anyone else's scripts. I'm hard headed and want to write my own.

    Admin Mode
    1. Add new thumbnails and corresponding links.
    2. Add new copy and corresponding links.
    3. Have control of what copy/thumbs are in the top 10.( top of the page)
    4. (stats) ? what kind, how much , how often
    5. Ability to mark converting links and/or move to the top of the page.
    6. If ability to customize how?
    7. Users / Groups ?

    User Mode
    1. css
    2. Text or thumbs
    3. Images (new daily, new monthly, new hourly, random, static )
    4. If ability to customize how?
    5. Flash ?

What would be your ultimate tgp script and in what language is what I'm getting at here.

Bump for you bro, I want to see some recommendations so I know what to look for in a TGP Script. I have a few domains sitting idle and I'm thinking of putting up a TGP on one or two of them.

well, as far as existing scripts go, check out Robotgp ( http://robotgp.com ) I just installed it and its pretty freaking cool.

As for coding your own, well, if its just for your use code in in whatever you want. If I were writing one just for our business I'd do it in Python/Django, if my partner were to write it, he'd do it in Ruby. It's all just a matter of preference as long as you are comfortable with the language.

Now if you're writing it for distribution, php really seems the only option these days, which is kind of unfortunate as I really would prefer to use Django on everything I did....

I wonder if and when the larger hosting companies will start supporting it....

      Good luck

NICE NEW LOOK by the way here

Hey, thanks for the responses. I like php I'm just a java programmer. Ruby on rails yeah thinking on that option. I'd like to go with python just because I want to learn more of the language. I have a j2ee cms system I want to convert to a tgp app I'm just feeling around for what a good tgp is, I'll figure it out. I think I'm going to start with using some open source like some of the tpgs you guys and other board members suggested.

I was fucking around with some things in flash temporarily for shits and giggle to see if random images on a tgp is good thing or flash is even a good thing. Flash seems to be okay, random images no but I don't have any traffic really to tell.

I did notice in yahoo groups they use python...
        PythonError: <exceptions.IndexError instance at 97c9f0>

Does anyone know what they are using as their main framework ? I don't think it's python ?

        * Piece !
