Setting the maximum width for images?

Ok, I need to know how I can set the maximum width for images? I'm building my imageviewer but I just can't find a way to set the maximum width of the images which are displayed so as to not skew my layout! i'm googling furiously at the moment, but if anyone has a way to do this, feel free to step in and let me know. I'll check back in soon if google doesn't work out. Thnx...

      Another update on topic

I got the thing fixed up using this method...

      http://phydeaux3.blogspot.com/2006/0...it-for-ie.html

so now things work in IE...

however using max-width in opera for some reason STILL distorts the shape of the page, even though the image is displayed smaller, the page is still skewed as though the image was there in full size still...

continuing to fiddle around.... tips will be appreciated...
