They are talking about Google Toolbar. PR is a method of populatiry in google search engine by how many sites link back to yours, and basiclly goes by the quality and linksback in the google database. Higher PR is a lot better 2 ig good, 3,4,5 and up are much better. -

Uh, yeah, what he said. Google also looks at how many pages in your own site link back to your home page. It looks at how your text is formatted (headings, body, bullet points, bold, italics, etc.) It looks at your navigation. Can it find every page on your site? It looks at the names of your pictures. It looks at the names of your movies. It looks at how long you've been at a Web hosting service, how many times you've changed Web hosting services, how many links you've got and how fast you got them (getting a thousand links over night does not make Google happy). It basically puts a probe up your site's ass and checks its temperature.
But, like the man said, inbound links are the most important because more inbound links raises your page rank, and eventually more inbound links means Google puts you at the top of the ranking for your key words. Key words, as in what text is in your headings, what text is in your body paragraphs, what are your pictures named, and so forth.
That's my story. I'm sticking with it.
Later.

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."
Important, high-quality sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. Of course, important pages mean nothing to you if they don't match your query. So, Google combines PageRank with sophisticated text-matching techniques to find pages that are both important and relevant to your search. Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.Comment
