        I use Adobe Premier Pro.

Avid's great, especially if your ultimate goal is to edit for a big company, but it has a steep learning curve and price.

Premiere does the job for me. One thing I like is it's tightly integrated with Adobe Audition sound editing software. You can export AVI, import it into Audition, export the audio, then reimport the audio into Premier and everything is in sync and sounds great when you encode it to WMV.

Why use it? Last month I did a shoot with Gianna Lynn and Delilah Strong. After the shoot we're getting stills and Delilah gets Gianna in a pile drive position and starts burying her tongue deep in her not-so-holiest of holes. I flipped on the camera and started recording.

Later, as I'm editing I can hear the slurping over the headphones, but not so much over the speakers. So I took it into Audtion -- it was just a 30 second clip -- added a slight reverb to it, very subtle but still there, and then normalized the volume; that is, brought the volume up to about 90 percent of maximum level. After that, you can really hear the slurping and the smacking and the members dig it.

Take that into consideration when you get into video editing, especially for the Web: Don't short-change your sound. People like to hear good audio over the Web. If you can buy a suite of products that integrates audio and video editing, you can do some pretty sweet stuff.

Blah, blah, blah, that's my spiel, said the porn producer who was once in a band. . . .

Alright, after I blathered on I just read you're editing for HD. Sorry about that. Still, Audition can do 5:1 sound. You can do a lot with that.
