    Traffic Trade Question

Hey, I am a bit confused about traffic trading.

When one webmaster says to another webmaster, "lets trade traffic" is that implying that they are going to trade sites on their toplist? Or does that mean they are going to send skimmed traffic to eachother?

On my site Porncapitalist.com, I have a toplist, but I dont do skimmed traffic with the exception of 2 percent of the clicks going to comus. I use this NEW CJ system, and for toplist type functions it is perfect. Now for the future (since my site is just a baby) am I going to need to set up a skim program for traffic trades? If so, whats good, possibly free, and works with comus? Maybe if you have a spare moment, could you just flat out describe to me how your traffic system works in relative detail. That would be very useful to me, thanks ahead of time!

There's no way to cover anything in detail in just a moment, but the basics are pretty simple.

If you want to use a skimming trade script, grab a copy of Arrow Trader Lite III from http://www.arrowscripts.com. It's free, but it does take 1% of your gallery clicks. Pretty easy to install and configure and once it's running it's bascially hands off - very smart script - except for approving new trades, etc.

The idea behind skimming on a new site is to generate a good amount of traffic as quickly as possible. The art of traffic trading is to send your lower prodctive traffic to someone else in return for their quality traffic. It's not easy, since they are trying to do the same thing to you. A lot of people buy really crappy traffic and flood your site, hoping your script is basic and returns 1 for 1 regardless of quality. ArrowTrader won't let that happen if you set up your trades correctly.

The general idea behind trading is that you basically filter the traffic from site to site and get bookmarkers - return visitors - who really like the content you have to offer. The issue is how much should you skim? If you don't skim enough you won't be sending much traffic out to your trades, and will get less in return. If you send too much the surfers get pissed and close your window as soon as it pops..

General rule of thumb - never skim more than 60%. Most decent sites won't trade with someone skimming that much. For a new site, a good starting value might be around 75%. Build archive pages and skim those higher - they also give you more search engine exposure.

To send quality traffic to your trades, put another toplist at the very top of your page. Everyone shoves them at the bottom, but if you want quality traffic back, send quality traffic. If you want to boost your trades to certain sites, use a fake toplist - hardcode the links in, then manage them manually until you get the results you want.

You'll hear and read a lot about forcing traffic to a trade. Forces are used to get trades started, and also to manipulate your trade partner's toplists. You want to get into the top 3 on a good partner's toplist - that's the best quality traffic you can get from him. Using forces can push you from position 8 to position 3 without a lot of work (of course, this depends on how huge the difference in traffic is between pos. 8 and 3). If you do use forces, keep up with them.. don't forget you have them turned on!

Anyway, that's about it for the basics. Have fun trading traffic!

          WARNING NOOB TECHNICAL QUESTION

Okay so I have installed an allready decent trade script NEW CJ (atleast it seems good to me so let me know if its no good ) And I found out it has skimming abilities. I have been doing quite a bit of reading and am a bit stumped as to how to get it working.

I understand that I want to direct every click through the out.php script so the script can take over from there, and I have set up comus so that it sends every click to it.

          The one part I am confused at is once I tell comus to start sending clicks there, it sends EVERY click there regardless of if it has a #skim# macro on the thumb. E.G. {{#80#%templatename%-thumb-1-query-best_noclicks}}

Not that that is the big problem, because having all my clicks go through the traffic script isnt a real problem. The real problem I have been having is when I set the clicks to go through the trade script. I tell comus to go through the out.php script with the following suffix like this out.php?p=70 &url=THEREALURL . So the p stands for a 70% shave ratio and the url is for the other 30 percent of the time it will go to where its supposed to.

Except the program takes (THEREALURL) literally and sends people to http://..../THEREALURL which a bad link lol. So I have been looking around for a macro or something to put in the (THEREALURL) spot so that it goes to the real url. I havent found anything. I thought it might be controlled by comus and I couldnt find anything there.

What do you people use for Arrow (i know thats a lot more popular)? Have any other ideas? Thanks for the help. The documentation for NEWCJ is here if you want to check it out http://www.newwebmaster.net/docs.html .

I got it to work, please disregard the above

I thought it wasnt sending clicks to my trade partners until I deleted all my cookies, as it turns out after I visit all sponsors it just sends me to the correct link every time.

don't forget to visit the comusthumbs support forum when you have more questions, use the search function and find loads of great info
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
              think about that

Yes, I have used their help forum before and it is a great help. The reason I didnt go there first was because the problem I was having was for the NEW CJ trading script mostly, and their forum is no good. I have since gotten it all straightened out. Thanks very much
