    Are blogs necessary?

I noticed alot of you use blogs, and have seen some phpnuke sites. I am a designer and just starting to dabble with porn sites again.
Do alot of you use blogs because of limited html skills? The reason I ask is that I may be missing something.

I tried using a blog for the first time, after visiting here, and it's easier to have a site up and running, but even I had run into some issues trying to use it.

Just looking for some advice and some insight on the blog usage...

Hey man, I am the same...I design sites for a living (non adult) and have been doing so for the past 8 years. I'm most interested in doing a blog because it is not as time consuming and am most interested in the capabilities that a blog can do in regards to this business. If you check out information on blogs and bloggers it is big money in the mainstream, some bloggers do 6 figs. I think for me it is the quickest way to get in for one and I like blogging anyways, especially about pussy lol

what would you run as opposed to a blog? not everyone has the investment capital to start a paysite and i'm pretty sure that the general consensus is that tgp's are dead, at leats for new webmasters to get into and make a decent profit off of. sure blogging allows anyone and everyone to open a site, but the popularity of blogs i think has more to do with snagging good search engine position, targetted niche traffic, actual return readers, and better conversions...

      i think there's quite a bit you're missing

but hey, keep on trucking with the paysites, and stay out blogging, you'll probably do better with the members-area stuff anyways, besides, i don't need anymore competition than there already is...

I wouldn't run a paysite, not now anyway. I was just wanting a little more insight on the adult blogs.

well blogs can be used for a number of different things, firstly to grab search engine traffic because the search bots love coming back for the updated content and rss feeds. You can get some fantastic SE traffic and well if you give people what they're looking for, your conversions are going to skyrocket.

secondly traffic - it's easy to set up a lot of small blogs and have them all directing to one big site. more links into you = more major traffic. You could also have many small blogs pushing one sponsor - more click throughs = more dollars. You get the idea...
If you're building small blogs, you can have them filled with linkbacks/trades etc so you've got tonnes of traffic flowing - then send it all to another site you own which has much fewer outgoing links.

Thirdly, to build up trust in the surfer, if you've got a unique blog that a surfer is gonna enjoy reading they'll bookmark; they'll come back, read it buy your stuff, come back again when memebership has ran out, buy some more - a great example of this is the porn review websites.

blogs are pretty useful but do take work and consistency, just like any other sector of the adult industry.

blogs are an easy way to make money in the adult business right now, not sure how long it will last until search engines start to screw over the blogs that are basically just using rss entries...

A lot of people are doing blogs now because of both ease of setup, and quick se results.

Doesn't mean you can do something more innovative... plenty of people out there still see a world of possibility outside of comus and wordpress.
