ok, so i've been procrastinating on getting my forum up for my blog network, and i'm thinking it should be my next project, but i haven't decided on what to use yet, vbulletin or phpbb. they are both free to use aren't they? which do you think is better?

GFY operates vBulletin and in my opinion it's far superior - just take a look through the logs here and you'll see that GFY hosts perhaps millions of threads and countless individual posts with ease. I've used both myself and personally prefer vBulletin - phpBB seems "amateurish" to me.

There's no way to compare these two. vBulleting wins by miles.
However, an interesting debate can arise from the whole Invision Power Board and vBulletin competition.

i don`t like vBullitin becouse its comercial, i don`t use comercial scipts if there are free ones in same quality.
I used PHPbb for a long time but i got it off becouse i got big trouble with the security wholes.
At the moment i m running some simplemachines.org working nice easy to maintainComment
