    Webposition Gold info wanted ...

    Good enough to buy it?
I'm looking for reactions from users of this submission tool.

    Thanks in advance.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

I would be a bit careful of how you use WPG.
I used to use it for a year or so, got reasonably good results in google, yahoo etc, topped some significant keywords in a few SE's. Overall ranking increased.
Problem is, that using the Traffic Analyser that comes with WPG to assess your sites ranking is espressly forbidden by google in its conditions of use.
You are not allowed to use any automated proggy to do this, It must be done one search at a time, by hand. Bummer.
I had 100+ sites heavily penalised by google for using TA to assess how my sites were rateing.
Emails to Google & Google SE boards finally named the TA as the reason we were so heavily penalised.
I finally had to ditch the domains, get new ones & redesign the sites then submit them again.
It was a pain in the fuck'in ass & I lost untold traffic.
The hassle with WPG & Google has not yet been resolved that I know of, WPG refuses to accept that they are deliberately misleading customers about this issue & they still trumpet the alleged virtues of their very expensive product.
The WPG people will not answer any queries on this subject.
    I gave them the flick.
    Be a bit careful dude.

      Wow, that's really interesting Wolfie.

I bought WPG, researched search engines a bit, optimized my pages, submitted, and my SE traffic is virtually nil.

I know some people do well.

Maybe I didn't put enough effort into it. I think it is very hard to get a lot of traffic this way, as there is so much competition.

        Hi Krox,
Yes it was an expensive lesson, learnt a lot through it though.
What really annoyed me was that I hard-code all my sites 200+, I am one of the old hands that don't write plain english in Word the hit the "Convert to HTML" button.
With hind sight, I don't think you would ever be able to do well with WPG on a porn site. Far too much competition in the sheer volume of sites.
Key in 'big tits' in yahoo & you will get well over 1Mill sites using that key phrase. Now there's a deep niche for 'ya.
The guys who hold down the top 5 places have been there since '93 or '94 and have never changed. They will never be knocked off.
I got my best big tit site up to #76 with constant re-writes & optimisations & most of the sites above mine were pretty obviously scamming the system. Most had no meta tage at all, those that did were stuffed with literally 1000's of repeat keywords etc, hidden text, fake key words & all the usual shit.
Some were using cloaking proggys, instant redirects & other illegal stuff.
Most of my new sites sit at the top or in the top 5 for their key phrases in the SE's, but I am in 2 very deep niches now.
WPG is being very deceptive in claiming that anybody who used their proggy can get a top 10 placeing. That is rubbish.
Do you think that WM's like you and I have any chance of knocking of Hustler etc from their top spots ?
Those guys spend millions on promotion !
The generally accepted figures for SE traffic are...
        #1 spot - the lion's share
        #2 - half of #1's traffic
        #3 - a fifth of #1
        #5 - 5-10% of #1
At #76 I was getting a regular 200 per day till I was blacklisted. It then dropped over night to 1 or 2 per day.
Well there you go, what a cheery soul I am !

          Hi Wolfie,

Sad Google story, but thanks for sharing your information.
I think I'll do everything by hand.
I've some pages in the Google top 5 when you look for VirtuaGirl and software and I want to keep it like that!

          Thanks

            Hmmm,

How does Goggle detect that you are using and automated method? Thinking, maybe I need to go to sleep. ;)

It also makes doorway pages, those use to work great but one must be careful with it now.

                Rainman,
Google counts the # of reguests for data from a specific IP, you are allowed about 20/30 per 1/2 hr I think, there abouts anyway, TA sends out 100's every minute. Google nails you instantly as using an automated submitter.
Doorway pages are a headache also. I use them to advantage but they must be botted out via the robots.txt + use this meta tag
                <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> on every page between the <head> tags !
Best to put all your doorway pages in a separate dir then bott google out of it.
Remender to use a visible but to too visible link from from your root [index.html usually] down to each of the doorway pages as you want google to follow them but not index them.
On each of the doorway pages add a small visible link up to the root.
                <a href="../index.html">some keyword phrase</a>.
You will know you have not botted google out of your doorway pages when you see your listings recorded in google + text saying "and another 50 similar pages". You will be heavily penalised for these "similar" pages [ they consideri them spam]. Check yourrobots.txt + meta tags as above.
It used to be that every page you managed to get recorded in a SE meant traffic for your site, these days less is definitely more.
Also, don't link both ways to every site, chuck in a few random links & leave a few out. Think outside the circle, don't just follow what the rest of the pack says is the way to go, and you will be rewarded.
